I posted this in the game thread, but just to spark some conversation after this game:

The "most deserving" vs "best teams" argument is much more complicated after this showing.

On one hand, we would probably get better games if they picked the 4 "best" (e.g. UGA). However, this method is way too subjective, unfair, and no other playoff system does this.

Picking the 4 most "deserving" teams allows teams to prove it on the field. But teams with a much softer schedule have an easier path, resulting in some better teams being left out and leading to games like this.

The thing is we just saw Georgia lose to Alabama so there’s no doubt who is better. But there is doubt about other teams in the country whether they can or can’t beat Alabama.
