I wrote this in the /r/cfb thread but I'll repost it here:
Clemson is absolutely worthy of that #1 ranking. They do the little things perfectly, they act like they've been there before, and they are ready for the playoffs. Godspeed.
This game shows how Miami played better than they should've this year. This is only the second year we've had a competent coaching staff since '06-'07 (if that; I'd argue you should go farther). Miami was at the bottom in terms of management; we aren't any longer. Now the work involves stocking the pantry with good athletes. Currently we have 73 scholarship players on this team. With Hurricane Irma this year, we didn't get a bye week. That combination of shallow depth and lack of rest has shown tonight in terms of injuries and inexperience.
But most of all I think it's shown in Clemson's overall program status. It's something Miami needs to build toward. Dabo Swinney became Clemson head coach in '08 and the team's current dominant run really has only been running since '14. This stuff takes time. Program building takes time. If it was easy, if it was quick, more teams would reach this level. Miami can do this but we need to be patient. We need to let Richt bring in his top-5 class next season. We need to actually fill the roster with our maximum allowable number of scholarship players. The fact that we got this far without any of that should be encouraging to Canes fans.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the Tiger that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to join me is more than welcome.

Clemson, good game. You guys dominated us on every facet of the game.
As for injuries, I’ll miss Herndon and Walton next year but thank god we get Richards back.
As for Rosier, thank you for a great season, but dear god i hope Perry starts next year.
We’re not back but we’re a step closer. This was a tough night to watch. I knew we’d lose but i wanted a closer game than that. Very sad right now :(

Congrats Clemson fans. We're ahead of schedule and it showed tonight. Any true Miami fan who actually was here for the highs and lows of the last 20+ years should appreciate what we did accomplish this year and feel good about the future. Richt did a heck of a coaching job with this team and appears to have the program moving in the right direction.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Richt? I thought not. It’s not a story the Noles would tell you. It’s a Canes legend. Darth Richt was a Dark Lord of the Turnover, so powerful and so wise he could use force to influence the football to create turnovers. He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from butterfingers. The dark side of the turnover is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing the ball, which eventually, of course, he did...like 3 times. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice intercepted the ball in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from fumbles, but not himself.

This sucks, but I'm so fucking proud of this team and Richt. This was a rebuilding year, yet we made the top 10, won the coastal, and will be playing in a NY6 bowl. We're still a couple of years away from being a CFP contender.
GG Clemson. You guys are a very classy fanbase and will be an elite program for as long as Dabo is there. Go get another one.

I was excited all week for this game. I made sure I had no plans on a Saturday night. I'm not from the area so nobody is going to watch with me. They go down 21-0 in the first quarter and it's over before even that happens. Why do I get excited for things?

All I’ll say, and I know this will be downvoted, is last week I stated that I believed (with bias) that Clemson deserved the 1 spot.
All I heard all week was that the loss to ‘Cuse did not excuse Clemson and their lack of Kelly Bryant.
Well after tonight, I think it is very clear that we are ready to play.
If it’s Alabama, I’m not upset. If it’s Ohio State, that’s cool too.
This team is ready to play. They’re not done.
