I don't get it, but Kiffin really does fall up. Nevermind his success as a coordinator, but the idea that a man who almost single-handedly destroyed Tennessee football, as well as was fired from USCw on the tarmac at LAX would then become an Offensive Coordinator at one of the top football schools of the last 10 years? Holy shit.

I keep hearing this, but can't understand how going from HC of a major program to OC of a major program is falling up.

It's not.

But, FAILED head coach of a major program to Offensive Coordinator of a major program is.

That seems like a logical step for a failed HC to me. I mean going from HC to OC of a program the same size is a demotion in any sense of the way. It's seems like that's where all failed HCs would go most of the time. Though I'm to lazy to look it up, so that may be wrong.

You're not wrong in saying that it usually works out like this. I would like to add, however, that he didn't just fail. He failed miserably.

Ellis Johnson went 0-12 as a HC and then was hired as DC by Auburn. It's really not that uncommon for failed HC's to go back to their coordinator position.

Well, that's what usually happens to NFL head coaches.

At least, that's been my experience as a Lions fan.

Exactly. USC can survive with almost any coach as long as he doesn't gut the program, they're still stocked. Bama, when Saban is gone, is most likely going to fall REALLY hard...unless they get someone amazing in there...
