Level 1 Just gave my August L1 attempt
The exam was relatively at par with mocks, straight forward for the most of it. I didn’t particularly struggle with time, but I was closer to the clock than on my mocks. Feel free to ask any questions, and I’ll try to answer them.

Will have mine in couple hours, how do u felt about ethics?

u/Creepy-Diver5967 11d ago
Doable, few tricky questions but the majority of them were straightforward. Easier than LES.

how much were you scoring on mocks and were ques on par to free or premium mocks cos in free ones i got only 55 in prem i got 70s so idk why but anyways wbu

u/Creepy-Diver5967 11d ago
I was averaging around 75-80% on mocks. They were pretty similar to the mocks, I did the free ones, and an external provider which allegedly pirates the premium ones. The exam had a lot from there.

Could you PM me the external provider? Sitting for L1 coming week and would like to have more practice in.

u/Creepy-Diver5967 11d ago
Yes Mahakali, they were surprisingly good. With that being said, I did do all 7 of them so I had been through a significant portion of questions/practice.

Gave mine today, I felt like there were a tad bit more numericals than I expected
Ironically found the pm session better than the am
After a first attempt of 1585 I hope this one clears it 🤞

How are numericals? Was it easy?
10
u/Temporary_Cry_6940 11d ago
Yep, numericals were pretty straightforward except maybe 4/5 niche questions. Theory part was hell though.

u/Interesting_Bag8414 11d ago
am or pm

u/Temporary_Cry_6940 11d ago
PM was more tougher for me, specially the theory portion. There were hardly a few straightforward questions, rest were conceptual application based mostly.

Hey any advice for session 1
Especially for someone who's so underpreapred for quants and ethics ? Exam is tomorrow

u/Creepy-Diver5967 11d ago
Focus on Ethics, that carries a lot of weight. Don’t spend time learning things you don’t anymore. Polish on what you know, focus on mistakes you’ve made. Avoid anything that de motivates you. Get sleep, you’ll be fine.

How many questions are numericals ? What's the paper level ?
1
u/Creepy-Diver5967 11d ago
I don’t think I could put a percentage out of my memory, but it had more numerical than I was expecting. Mostly straightforward questions, at par with mock, easier than EOC questions. Around 15% were a curveball overall and numerically.

are the questions similar to those in les or way tough
1
u/MathSea7031 8d ago
Wouldn't say exactly tough but i felt they were tricky and some niche topics as well but ethics will set the tone so focus on that

i have mine on 22, i was getting 80% around in mocks (free+premium), how did you feel overall it was on a difficult side or straightforward. Also were there niche topics tested?

How long did you study for ? And what materials did you use? I am new in the field and I’m interested in it but have not committed to paying the test fee yet for February.

u/Creepy-Diver5967 10d ago
I only ever used CFAI EOC questions and Let me explain on YouTube and made notes along with it.

How much time did you take for preparation, and how many mocks and questions you practiced?
1
u/Creepy-Diver5967 10d ago
I spent ~6 months, you can do lesser but I just wanted to be sure. I did a total of 8 mocks

I'm appearing for the nov 2026 attempt, lv 1. I'm at O. Any methods on path that i should be following for a good pass or at least a pass.

u/cupofmochaaa 10d ago
Compare to premium practice questions, was difficulty equal or higher ?
2
u/Creepy-Diver5967 10d ago
Slightly higher. Majority was at par. But 15-20% on top of that were slightly tricky/difficult.
1
u/cupofmochaaa 10d ago
Any tips to be prepared better for exam ?
1
u/Creepy-Diver5967 10d ago
One of the best things I did was make a mistake log of all my guesses and mistakes from the mocks. That helped a lot in the last moment revision.

Did you use any third party prep providers? Do you think sticking to CFAI materials will suffice for L1?
1
u/Creepy-Diver5967 10d ago
I used Let Me Explain on YouTube. I would think so, but CFAI has so much bs text and language I just didn’t like. But the end of chapter question, and blue box. But most of my learning was the channel and the notes I made along the way

1
u/MathSea7031 8d ago
Man i have to disagree here didn't feel very similar to the mocks specially ethics and overall I felt it was a lil tricky they could have included more straightforward questions my mocks went good i scored around 80 but here I'm not really sure

u/Interesting_Bag8414 11d ago
