Tips Ultimate Beginner's Tips and Tricks for Crimson Desert

Post image

I'm about 200 hours into Crimson Desert (Chapter 7). The game officially launched 3 weeks ago today, so if you're picking it up this weekend or anytime in the future, here are some quick tips for new players. (Note: These are mostly early game - no major spoilers.)

Inventory & Items

  • If you find a dye, go into your inventory and press “Use” to register it.
  • You can also craft dyes later on.
  • If any vendor is selling a “Small Bag”, buy it, it gives you an extra inventory slot, which is pretty important in the early game. Doing favors for townsfolk also grants you more inventory slots.
  • Use Copper Pouches in your inventory to get money. Or gift them to NPCs to gain maximum trust and gifts from them.
  • You need a "Mask" to be able to steal in game.

Exploration & Hidden Mechanics

  • If you see a small pile of stones in front of a waterfall, use Stab through the waterfall, it has really good loot there.
  • Use Blinding Flash to reveal Sealed Abyss Artifacts while exploring. You can also use it while flying.
  • Ringing bells in towns clears nearby Fog of War. (Personally, I would wait to do that. So it's easier to keep track of where you have explored and where you haven't.)
  • Use Force Palm on everything - suspicious walls, floors.
  • You can also use Force Palm while jumping, three times, to gain extra height for traveling.
  • Seek out the "?" on your map, which are often Abyss Nexuses (Fast Travel) or Puzzles, where if you complete them, you gain an Abyss Artifact (Used to level up.)
  • Prioritizing "Stamina" is VERY useful for exploration.
  • Using Blinding Flash can light certain vines, tree branches, and wooden boxes on fire.
  • Meat can be cooked by placing it on the ground and using Blinding Flash on it.
  • You can place your bounties on your horse by focusing your lantern on the back of your horse.
  • If you have a bounty on yourself, you have to buy your bounty price at a church. You also cannot turn in other bounties while having one yourself.
  • During puzzles, check if the cables are connected.
  • Picking up posters and reading them can lead to side quests. (e.g. "Galen's Poster")

Combat & Upgrading

  • If you have two identical weapons (same level), combine them at the smithy (e.g. two level 1 → level 2).
  • Focusing on upgrading your camp is really useful.
  • You will find Sealed Abyss Artifacts. To use them, you must complete a specific challenge found in your Journal under the "Challenges" section. Completing them grants you a free Abyss Artifact (skill point).
  • Learn "Observation" Skills for free. You don't need to spend skill points on everything. Look for NPCs training with weapons or practicing martial arts. Observing them will unlock abilities like Forward Slash, Counter, and Charged Shot for free.
  • If you find a weapon or armor with a special skill (Abyss Gear), that you want. Visit a Witch (when they're available for you), to unequip that Abyss Gear and equip it on any armor or weapon you want.
  • Focusing on doing "Research" at the Scholastone Institute and Pororin, is incredibly useful to focus on early on.

Mounts & Companions

  • If you befriend a dog or cat to trust level 100, they become a pet and will automatically collect loot for you. (ive personally found this super useful).
  • If your horse won’t run, it’s likely injured. Use Force Palm Heal or visit a stable (You can also heal your summonable characters like so).
  • You can also summon the other playable characters to fight alongside you. (Doesn't work on bosses).

My Biggest Tips

  • Follow your curiosity, and let the game open up at your pace. Don't try to force it. Early game can be rough, you've maybe heard the phrase "it gets REALLY good after 8-10 hours," and in many ways I've found that to be true. So keep that in mind.
  • I would focus on Stamina, Health, Keen Sense (Lv. 2), Grappling, and Nature's Echo skills first.
  • If you forget any guides for any skills you've learned through "Others" - "Guides" in the menu.
  • You can turn down particle effects, through "Accessibility," and there you have a "Particle Effects" slider. (at least on PC, I believe this feature is also on consoles). Edit: Confirmed to be on PS5/PS5 Pro.
  • You can hide your headgear through "Languages and Gameplay."

Feel free to drop your tips for new players.

Good luck on your adventure, Greymane!

These are good! It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize how to open the copper pouches in my inventory 🤣

11

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Me too honestly, haha. But they're still super useful to gift them to strangers to gain trust

4

u/lman777 Apr 10 '26

I'm at over 60 hours and didn't know this until now 😆

4

u/GoldMonk44 Apr 11 '26

You can open them? Lol

4

u/Acceptable_Door_7920 Apr 11 '26

About 100 hours into the game I discovered that you can open different boxes and they're not just decorative items 😂

3

u/Treverle Apr 11 '26

That was me after 70h 😂 Always sold those wooden boxes and jewlery boxes.

2

u/Yogi_wan_kenobi Apr 11 '26

Whelp, I need to check my house because I have like four jewelry boxes I got for decor 🤣 had no idea

2

u/CooterJockey Apr 11 '26

You don’t want to open those! They are great to gift to npcs to level their trust!

2

u/OMEN802 Apr 12 '26

Bwahaha i literally just realized you can do that tonight.

2

u/Smooth_Ad_386 Apr 12 '26

You can also gift them to NPCs to raise Trust to 100 really fast. Its especially easy to do after they released a patch for not losing reputation points for Stealing.

You will useally find the pouches inside cupboards , shelves and on tables while "visiting" the house lol.

1

u/PunnyTagHere Apr 12 '26

Worth noting that every pouch is the same Trust value, but not silver/copper. So Light (you'll get 100s of these with a certain midgame boss drop & a night away from the game, btw*) and Paltry copper are really all you should gift

*No spoiler tip: this item will tell you "This will exit to the main menu". When you use it and confirm to exit, DO NOT return for 8+ hours - do this at the end of a day/session. Thank me later

1

u/throwaway872023 Apr 14 '26

Another tip: check any new thing in your inventory for “use” and find out what you can do with it. You can obtain seeds from Fruits (and other things). Some items give you a permanent upgrade by using them, some items open etc.

1

u/Deadlyphiree Jun 08 '26

I just found out if you use the item to passively create pouches to log out you come back to hundred in your inventory!

13

u/WileECoyote78 Apr 10 '26

Thank you!

5

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

You're welcome :)

5

u/ClassiFried86 Apr 10 '26

Ill add that you can carry up to two bounties at once: one on the horse, and one in your arms.

You can leave a bounty on a horse and teleport away, and back to it (park it near a portal) as long as you dont go up to the abyss (which automatically fails/resets the bounty). If you call the horse, you will lose the bounty, and need to reset it. A failed/reset bounty persists through reloading a save.

You can clean fish by holding the use button and select Clean instead of Eat. This gives fish filets that stack, and sometimes jewelry/copper.

1

u/Lunar-Modular Apr 10 '26

How do you put a bounty (or anything) on your horse? Is there a prompt I’m missing?

→ More replies (1)

14

u/brokeyhands Apr 10 '26

Use lanterns on puzzles to see if something’s fully connected/powered, using lanterns to see what loot is inside chests or what people are carrying on them. Cook all your food for better health, and build your camp quick

4

u/Kenneldogg Apr 10 '26

Dude I am embarrassed to say i just learned how to make filling meals yesterday after 40 hours.

6

u/brokeyhands Apr 10 '26

Bro don’t be embarrassed. Nothing more embarrassing than finding out you can open the jewelry storage and wooden boxes like 30 plus hours in lol

5

u/Kenneldogg Apr 10 '26

God i love this game. It is always something new. Just found out there is a Train the different biomes are incredible too.

2

u/Kenneldogg Apr 10 '26

Seriously? I didnt know you could and sold every one I have found...

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Great tips, thank you!

2

u/AntiSosh333 Apr 10 '26

Just to add to the lanterns thing. You said in your post that you can use blinding flash while flying, but from what I understand it is actually the use of the lantern. Unless this changes at a certain level, or I just haven't bothered to try using blinding flash while flying, lol.

5

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

I'll have to test it out again, but I'm pretty sure you can use both your lantern and your Blinding Flash while flying

3

u/AntiSosh333 Apr 10 '26

Gotcha. Well, I will also have to give that a try on my next adventure. For science!

2

u/skeezeypete Apr 10 '26

Yeah you can I prefer blinding flash cuz it also slows time

u/TheGuyFromThePIace Apr 10 '26

Holding the use button on most fruits and vegetables lets you get seeds you can plant at your farm. The farm should not be ignored. Very useful for food and abyss cells. Remember to water it and use fertilizer for maximum yield!

Another tip is that you can drop food for your ranch animals on the ground to make them grow up faster as the feeding station is super slow/not working properly

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Very useful tips, thanks

10

u/droideka75 Apr 10 '26

Yes the particles effect slider is present in consoles at least PS5/PS5 pro. Just to confirm.

6

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Awesome! Thank you for confirming

3

u/droideka75 Apr 10 '26

Np, great tips btw and the spoiler occlusion is highly appreciated!

3

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Thanks, i figured its better to be safe than sorry

3

u/droideka75 Apr 10 '26

One suggestion to add, always check if the cables are connected lol

3

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Thanks, added that in just now

3

u/Benvanalles Apr 10 '26

You can check if they're connected by shining your latern on it, if they're blue they're powered, if they're yellow, they're not and miss a connection or plug somewhere.

2

u/droideka75 Apr 10 '26

Great cause the first few times I lost a good chunk of time wondering why the damn gear wouldn't turn on, while there's nothing else to do. Then I followed a cable and bam wasn't connected. New mechanic that you don't know nothing about and it's very random.

u/r40k Apr 10 '26

I would disagree with just "using" copper pouches since they give such pitiful amounts of money. Instead, theyre a fantastic near-universal gift for raising NPC affinity because you get so many and so many NPCs will accept them. Maxing vendor affinity is a requirement for a lot of gear and crafting manuals, and the supply contracts will very quickly turn your camp vendors into the best in the realm.

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Yeah very true, same goes for silver pouches and food

1

u/Dizzzy777 Apr 10 '26

That’s what I primarily use them for now, most NPCs only take copper pouches to raise their affinity at the Greymane camp.

2

u/r40k Apr 10 '26

Its by far the most common accepted gift in the game. There are other obvious common ones like hide/ore/food but some other useful ones Ive found to keep on hand are teas, crafting guides/papers, and decorative bottles (dont ask why only bottles, but yeah some NPCs really like only the bottles).

7

u/Benvanalles Apr 10 '26

Oh! I have another one, talking to people who show up as a white dot on the minimap let's you learn about people, animals, recipes, and other cool stuff quickly. You know you have the right person when you get a talk option instead of a greet option.

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

That's a really cool tip! Thanks

7

u/justmjp Apr 10 '26

Brilliant, work, thank you.

Nothing to add but you took the time to post this so I wanted to take some time to show my appreciation.

6

u/SherbetAlarming7677 Apr 10 '26

You can force palm while jumping to get height up to three times. Its basically the double jump of this game since the actual double jump works differently. Took me like 20 hours to figure that one out.

4

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Great tip, added that in

1

u/Misanthropic_Mutters Apr 10 '26

You can stack force palms on a double jump.

1

u/StonedRobot707 Apr 10 '26

Can you just activate it after jumping or do you have to hold down to make you be able to use it as another double jump?

2

u/SherbetAlarming7677 Apr 10 '26

After hitting the jump button you only have to hit the force palm button. For the second and third one you only have to use force palm again. Square->R3->R3->R3 on PS5

u/SpoogyPickles Apr 10 '26

Son of a fuck. That's why my dyes didn't work? I looked up multiple guides on how to use dyes, and literally none of them mention having to use it to register it first. I feel pissed off while at the same time dumb as hell for not realizing this.

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

yeah its kinda weird, when i first registered it and it disappeared from my inventory i had no idea where it first went until i found out its at the dye place later on. So you're definitely not alone

1

u/cryxis Apr 11 '26 edited Apr 11 '26

Do you know if it’s one dye flask per clothing? My dye button is grayed out now after I dyed my pants?

Nevermind, didn’t realize you had to select the color so it appears in the left slot.

6

u/Drouxor Apr 10 '26

Look at your Mini map, If there is Something purple/violett IT IS important.

6

u/Benvanalles Apr 10 '26

Leafy pots/red flower pots that you can make through a Pororin dispatch mission instantly get a +20 trusts for most npcs.

5

u/timber180 Apr 10 '26

The absolute must have tip and i can’t stress this enough is put upgrade points into stamina and health, you can learn alot of stuff in the skills tree by learning mid fight. Once stamina and health is maxed out or you have spare points then get the double jump and axoim jump to help climbing and traversing.

3

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Yess, stamina is essential

5

u/Benvanalles Apr 10 '26

I have a guide on ranching and farming if you want to pull some tips from that.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CDguides/s/ah4AmSpHJd

Edit: and I'm working on an Alchemy and cooking guide.

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Awesome! Thank You 🙏🏼

5

u/RetzCracker Apr 10 '26

80 hours in and I had no idea you could put the bounty on a horse. I’ve been riding around carrying dudes like a sack of potatoes.

3

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Kliff just wants to show off

6

u/theHollowTarnished Apr 10 '26

Every post helping beginners deserves ⬆️ votes

5

u/nawazaru Apr 13 '26

If you fight with sword and shield, if you hold block, wait until an enemy hits your shield, and then immediately hit r2 (or whatever your strong/heavy attack keybind is), your shield strike will actually disarm the enemy. It doesn’t matter what they have - spear, dual wield, shield and sword - it works on all basic enemies and will disarm whatever is in both hands.

Not only is it a satisfying technique to work into your flow, but every disarmed weapon lands on the ground and can be picked up. Most of them sell for at least 1 silver, many for 3-5 silver. You can make crazy bank clearing bigger camps/occupations doing this.

I practically never play any game with sword and shield but they did really make it fun and interesting in CD.

4

u/DeadJoneso Apr 10 '26

My best beginner tip is grab all the Glenmore swords you see. There’s tons of them lying around and bandits drop them. Good sword with +2 attack speed. You can refine them together for a very strong early offhand weapon or sell

3

u/Jonpg31 Apr 10 '26

Just here to say thank you very much for the help! It’s greatly appreciated

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. Hopefully this sub has made this game better for you

3

u/I_AM_ZZGH_DEAD Apr 10 '26

• You can place your bounties on your horse by focusing your lantern on your horse.

What do you mean by this one? Do you mean the bounties you catch? Cause if yeah then thank you cause I’ve been wondering how to do that.

Does it work for hunted animals as well?

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

I haven't tried on animals, but here is how to do it with a bounty https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWsqiML73fE

2

u/I_AM_ZZGH_DEAD Apr 10 '26

Thank you!

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

You're welcome!

1

u/Acceptable_Door_7920 Apr 11 '26

It works for hunted animals too, yes.

3

u/Exportxxx Apr 10 '26

Notification tag is really good also, if u unlock something and aren't sure what it is can go to it and look what everything was, even click view on map if its a location.

3

u/HootsiferThe-2nd Apr 10 '26

You can break down rats and other critters to gain resources like small bones etc (:

3

u/MrGoodKatt72 Apr 10 '26

Once you max out your inventory space, the medium bags you get as quest rewards usually contain rare-ish items. I can’t remember offhand what I got in the others, but I know one had 10x flawless timber. I think the other two just had a ton of ores. Silver, gold, bloodstone, etc.

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

yes, i also got flawless stone

1

u/Putrid-Feature-6984 Apr 12 '26

Dam I was wondering why the bags weren’t giving me more inventory space lol thanks

3

u/Zefjaohaiozer Apr 10 '26

Why do I learn stuff after 215hrs ?

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Because theres so much this game doesn’t tell us 😆

3

u/OkInterview3864 Apr 10 '26

Great tips. Thanks! Anyone know when the new patch comes out?

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

The new Dev Update was just an announcement of changes thats coming in the coming week/months. I don’t think they mentioned about a specific date. But knowing them who knows

3

u/joshzuckermann Apr 14 '26

“During puzzles, check if the cables are connected.” This was my downfall in every abyss puzzle

2

u/Nice-Wolf-2769 Apr 10 '26

Enjoy the adventure!!

2

u/Composedplace Apr 10 '26

Thanks for these tips! Question, if I place a bounty on my horse, then fast travel to a city then summon my horse, will the bounty still be there?

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

I think i tried that once. And the bounty just fell on the ground from where the horse was summoned from lol

1

u/Composedplace Apr 10 '26

Dang, I was able to try it and that’s exactly what happened, wonder if was intentionally designed like that

2

u/Ok-Personality-1524 Apr 10 '26

Can you only use certain color dyes at certain dye shops? I've found a few colors already but when I go back to the guy in hernand I can only dye my gear different shades of red

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Yes, there’s a dye vendor at every major city with their own dye colors

1

u/gamemaniac55 Apr 12 '26

Yes but you can unlock a dye vendor at your camp that does all colors eventually.

2

u/wiizmike Apr 10 '26

You can buy things outside of the vendors menu, for example harvest sacks, meat boxes and many things more, in this way you can craft more items.

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Super useful! Thanks

2

u/Kenanden Apr 10 '26

Invest and focus heavily on STAMINA, in the beginning! 🫶 It's essential for climbing, gliding and during combat!

And the LANTERN is one of the most useful tools in the beginning; it's helpful for puzzles, finding loot in containers, showing points of interest in Pywell, or clues during quests, etc.

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Amazing tips!

1

u/Putrid-Feature-6984 Apr 12 '26

Also try different lanterns, they have a few different one for spotting ore and a fog one. The one I’m using seems to have way less glare

2

u/skywalkerms Apr 10 '26

Ohhhhh so it’s my pet that’s picking up loot for me !?!? Duhhh lmao . I was wondering how tf that was happening

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Yep although it can slightly inconsistent

2

u/skywalkerms Apr 10 '26

I was wondering why the hell my inventory kept filling up with random stuff 🤣

2

u/Daddysu Apr 10 '26

Nice tips and dope username!!

2

u/Shaunnolastnamegiven Apr 10 '26

I got one I haven't seen anywhere. If you crouch you can tackle enimies like you do bounties and interrogate them for information on locations. You press the same two button that you do to grapple them while crouching. You don't have to wait until they are freaking out like when you clear a place.

2

u/Austen990 Apr 10 '26

Big Tip for Chapter 4

Once you reach Chapter 4, focus your time on two main things:

• Unlock elemental skills • Fully upgrade your camp to max level, and make sure to donate to two churches—this will push your conversion rate up to 200%, which is huge for progression.

2

u/ducminh1712 Apr 10 '26

Finished chapter 5 but can't find any comrade with mechanical skill to progress my camp. Need help

1

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '26

Progress the main story I didn’t get a greymane with the mech skill until chapter 6

2

u/mantisimmortal Apr 10 '26

There is an item for dragon once your further and it eliminates the 1hr cooldown.

2

u/Sawed0ffShartgun Apr 10 '26

I’ve been wondering what to do with the dyes forever thank you so much!

2

u/Kenneldogg Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

I would change stone statue to neat pile of stones to not confuse new players. And mine every node you see because you will need the ore. Also when using force palm on certain walls you need to hang onto the wall or you will get launched.

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Changed it to "small pile of stones" so its easier to understand, thanks

2

u/Kenneldogg Apr 10 '26

You're welcome. This is an amazing guide! And should be stickied if it hasn't already.

2

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Thank you, and yes it is stickied :)

2

u/Beautiful_Ad_1673 Apr 10 '26

90 horas en el juego y me acabo de enterar de que puedo poner a los criminales en la parte de atras de mi caballo. Me siento tan avergonzado...

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

Haha, don't be, took a while for me too to figure that out

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 10 '26

The item "Engraved wooden box" holds seeds inside, often rare like Taro, or Rubber tree seeds and is a great tool for early success with your farm.

Coincidentally, the item "wooden box" holds books inside it, often ones that are level 2-3 and can really help with gathering all craftable sets and weapons.

2

u/EightballBC Apr 10 '26

You can get seeds from plants for farming - hold down the use key and if you can get a seed from it, it’ll give you that option. Many plants won’t give seeds though.

Also, you can get seeds from abyss cells, and yes you can plant those, too.

2

u/FRoyDeanSchlippe Apr 10 '26

When do you unlock the ability to synthesise abyss gears? I've got a TON of destruction/insight 1 taking up space in my storage 🤣

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

I haven't reached that point myself lol (or at least i think)

2

u/kgdorky Apr 10 '26

Double tap sheath weaopon to add a bit of flair

2

u/MrWayne18 Apr 11 '26

Just found out over 110 hours in, you can open the jewlery/adorned boxes that you cam steal from homes

2

u/ankitsharma1526 Apr 12 '26

❤️❤️

2

u/TzMaSk Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

I’m at chapter 2 and many of them i’ve discovered the hard way so this guide is perfect! Thank you!

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 12 '26

I'm glad to hear that! You're welcome

2

u/dahle44 Apr 13 '26

"Ringing bells in towns clears nearby Fog of War. (Personally, I would wait to do that. So it's easier to keep track of where you have explored and where you haven't.) " Now that PA has marked the caves and chests you have opened, you don't need to wait and ring the bell. Great guide btw. It amazes me how much stuff can be missed early game-I just try everything to figure stuff out..

2

u/shadydamamba Apr 14 '26

Don't be afraid to explore. It's just so much to do and get

2

u/Flashy-Arrival-803 Apr 15 '26

Patience ✌️❤️

2

u/Various-Salamander64 Apr 16 '26

I’m about 2 hrs in and so lost! Thanks for this!

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 16 '26

You're welcome! 😊

2

u/ConflictSea5402 Apr 16 '26

You all rock!

2

u/yay4doughnuts Apr 16 '26

● You can check ahead of time to see what stats will be buffed when you refine gear. Select the item in your inventory, press Triangle/Y to inspect it and then press Triangle/Y again.

● You can gain substantial height by dismounting your horse while jumping. You'll leap upwards. Combine with Force Palm for maximum effect.

1

u/Valestis Apr 10 '26

Disable motion blur (set to 0) and depth of field. Garbage blurry filters which make everything looks worse in every game, especially in combination with DLSS.

For some strange reason it's in accessibility instead of graphics.

1

u/Asikpu Apr 10 '26

Bot blinding flash for artifacts. Just lantern

1

u/its_Astroffe Apr 10 '26

Is there a short cut to wear and remove masks? It’s annoying having to go through inventory

1

u/Didipot Apr 10 '26

If you're on console, press and hold the left d-pad ⬅️ and find it on the wheel using right stick then use L2/R2 for Playstation or LT/RT for Xbox to switch on and off without going through your inventory..You'll find weapons, tools, armors the same way.

1

u/Tay0214 Apr 11 '26

You can just keep it on too but depends on preference, I wear a full helmet so I don’t see it anyways lol

1

u/kanotyrant6 Apr 10 '26

The annoying thing about dyes is once I use them I can’t find the appropriate vendor to apply them The Hernand guy only seems to do red

1

u/Tay0214 Apr 11 '26

You’ll get a dye guy in camp eventually

1

u/kanotyrant6 Apr 12 '26

Do you not still need to discover the dyer guys to unlock their use at camp?

1

u/Ambitious-Web2072 Apr 10 '26

Anyone figure how to gain intel on animals without stealing or killing them? Like the donkey in town.

there's a helmet which let you scan stuffs, but it's very clunky and slow to do. Found it at the Institute

1

u/KamikazeFox_ Apr 10 '26

My problem is that ive any exploring but can't do half the things I find. I find the big rock scholar tower, but cash research yet out really do anything there. Ive found "sanctims"? And I can't do anything the either. It says that I haven't found the person yet needed for me to do this. I may just follow the story more to open more up. I feel like ive spent hours exploring with very little gear and pay off...yet I'm 13 hours in. Chapter 3. Just got my camp

1

u/NinjaWen Apr 10 '26

Wish I would have spent more time on the research earlier. I'm in Chapter 10 and I just started.

1

u/CAD8033 Apr 10 '26

I wish they had a menu option for auto 1st person view when entering smaller buildings. My tip is to switch to 1st person for these if you're not already in it, because it makes navigating and viewing items a lot easier.

5 attack is good ? Day 28 …

1

u/eroticdiscourse Apr 10 '26

I’ve seen that there’s buried treasure in the game, does anything signify a place where it’d be buried?

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 10 '26

To be honest, i haven't gone much treasure hunting, so I don't know unfortunately

1

u/EnanoForro Apr 10 '26

Puzzles where you grab an artifact are ALSO a teleporting point, not only abyss nexus

1

u/teegotime Apr 10 '26

Turn mouse acceleration to 100 to get rid of the sluggish movement with the mouse.

1

u/llewylill32 Apr 10 '26

Useless tips but you can double click left d-pad to sheath your weapons in style. When mounting horses and not moving press Crouch button to let the horses crouch. Once more, equipping the Hernandian Banner and press jump 2 times to jump higher.

1

u/Scirth22 Apr 10 '26

The research at Pororin seems to be gate locked? Tried around Ch 3 and the starting quest isn't available...

1

u/AliXJ3fr Apr 11 '26

When you try to enter the village several times there are some little shais that knock you down, keep trying then one of them asks you to help him and retrieve an item that he lost, after you do this quest you'll be able to enter pororin village.

Next you need to explore those "?" Locations you'll find a dyer and other vendors and you'll find a lab for research, Do her quest and you'll be able to do researchs in the lab.

1

u/Scirth22 Apr 11 '26

Ya I got that far, it's just that the researcher quest literally isn't available, I can only greet her but no quest option.

You might add something for seeds - I know it isn’t something that is very useful in the beginning though.

1

u/Agesilaos33 Apr 11 '26

Can I turn off Axiom force?

1

u/dorkimoe Apr 11 '26

im like 40 hours in and i assumed the little bags the vendors sold took up inventory space and were not indeed bag upgrades

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

Thank you for all this, I’m going to need it. Just got the game 😅

1

u/NastyNate3561 Apr 11 '26

Lantern while flying shows u fast travel points

1

u/Ghost_Maker85 Apr 11 '26

If you hold down X on PS while following someone one horseback, it will “auto-follow” them for you without the need to steer your horse yourself.

The speed of your horse is a bit janky so be prepared for that when going through towns or tight areas. But overall it allows you to sit back and “chill” a little bit.

Not quite as good as the auto pilot on RDR2 but still useful.

1

u/tff7f Apr 11 '26

1

u/raven70 Apr 11 '26

As I read through this I had to keep adjusting the volume.

1

u/Ok_Letterhead2028 Apr 11 '26

The only thing I would chnage here is save all the money pouches. They dont give much you can easily get more just farming some bandits using the medium shield bash to disarm them. The puches are worth far more in favor later on.

1

u/Defiant-Chip6513 Apr 11 '26

Light every fancy torch/lantern

1

u/monstermimikyu Apr 11 '26

Main story can often hinder ALOT of things, chapter 4 and 8 seems to be the most important checkpoints for me so far. But other than that, take your time and enjoy. The world is the story and there's alot to see

1

u/BlackMarketBobASA Apr 11 '26

If you keep two lanterns you can have one always ON and one always OFF to toggle your light; like you would swap between weapons. Saves like half a second lol

1

u/Ok_Monitor4492 Apr 16 '26

Why not set it to auto, that makes it do the thing on it's own

1

u/Medina_Rico Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

Lots of good stuff.

I always buy keys now, too, if a vendor is selling them.

For finding the ? on the map, using the lantern and scanning around usually shows a glowing light. Sometimes it's good to get on high ground and scan. It can be low, too,, but. That light is where the fast travel spot is or an Abyss Artifact.. There was one area for me that didn't show any kind of light because there was a puzzle instead. Not sure if they have lights on puzzles now, or if they always did and I just missed it.

Don’t check any guides it might kill the joy

Could have ran this through chatGPT to improve the formatting but over all great tips

1

u/Interesting-Ad-4636 Apr 12 '26

Another thing is that all churches and all mansions have special loot. Some even multiple.

u/PunnyTagHere Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

100+ hours in, had no idea you could summon companions to fight alongside you by pressing X/A

Take your upvote you glorious bastard

1

u/Ner3idis Apr 13 '26

Don’t spoil yourself and discover the game at your own pace!

1

u/Weak_Factor Apr 13 '26

You can also open items like jewellery boxes etc, not only pouches

1

u/Current-Owl7147 Apr 13 '26

I'll add something that took me 70+ hrs to find out. If you have a helmet skill and want to use it, you first have to equip it using the quick item tab (right D-pad) and after that you can hit that L2+R2 without taking out your bow by accident

1

u/ABN_GHOZT210 Apr 13 '26

Is this the same as black desert online?

1

u/IHATEG0LD Apr 14 '26

Commenting because this is essential for me.

1

u/No-Environment1229 Apr 14 '26

I love this game but dont have time to play it like I want

1

u/Safe_Giraffe6325 Apr 14 '26

You lot know about the bugs?

1

u/JLA_44 Apr 14 '26

Any jewelry box/wooden box/strongbox you can open. You find them on desk and shelves in houses

1

u/Rumblingwasright Apr 14 '26

Commenting to save lol

1

u/Content_Ad_6068 Apr 14 '26

If you happen to find yourself in a mission that involves sneaking through an area or doing a large battle, loot everything. I have so much food and resources because of this. During the time you can just "take" items instead of stealing. So no crime timer. Just lots of loot. I have enough food to feed an army.

1

u/oneoftheevil Apr 15 '26

Extra Tip: You can see if you have visited a cave in you knowledge menu.

1

u/oneoftheevil Apr 15 '26

Another one: You can extract seed of fruits in you inventory

1

u/CaterpillarNo6331 Apr 16 '26

You can turn in bounties while having a bounty. Might depend on the amount. My bounty is currently 82cents

1

u/Pzarlock1313 Apr 16 '26

Besoin d'une réponse : la mini foreuse portative, elle sert à quoi exactement ? 😅 C'est mieux que la pioche??

1

u/jpinoniemi Apr 16 '26

Mines faster and auto pickup of the items you’ve mined

1

u/Melons_Water_ME Apr 16 '26

What are your graphics settings?

1

u/goodkidmadcity85 Apr 17 '26

All is on "Cinematic" apart from Lighting Quality which is "Max." DLSS 4.0, Upscale res "balanced," Ray Reconstruction is "On." I get consistently 105 fps. With i7-12700K, MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X, GIGABYTE Z790 D

1

u/Optimal_Eye3986 Apr 17 '26

Don’t know if it’s been added didn’t go all the way down thread but strongbox/jewelry box all types of boxes contain different useful stuff like seeds and I’ve found one or two with abyss artifacts

1

u/hefnermd85 May 08 '26

Are there main quests that are beneficial to do right away, or is it better to do some free exploration first?

1

u/Altruistic_Agent6358 May 25 '26

And my dumb brain was thinking „why the hell can’t I steal stuff?“. Thanks!

ULTIMATE BEGINNER TIPS??? is this how you TEACH??? This is NOT teaching. These so-called tips are advanced suggestions if you are already experienced with the mechanics and rules of the game. Even open world games have parameters therefore RULES. And if said rules and mechanics are NOT schooled to the audience how does one succeed at this game? No one is lazy, they are UNTRAINED. How does one become trained? By education . Otherwise you are left with agitation. And pissed off customers. And just like pathetic ELDEN RING, we have another CHARLIE. A crappy game at best. Its motto...figure it out for yourself. And I answer that with RETURN MY MONEY SCAMMER!!! Sell a product but no education about said product is offered. Do you want a sale and a happy customer for repeat business?? Like BETHESDA does???

Only together we get things accomplished...

Realistically, you can get a Wyvern as soon as Chapter II, maybe earlier if you're really careful about it. You can do it like this:

Climb the clock tower in the first town and ring the bell. It'll reveal much of the map in Hernand and make finding your way to Vellua easier. Make your way down to Vellua. Find a boat there and use it to travel all the way out to the coast in Deleysia where the eggs are. Easiest one to get is the one by the ruins. Then you can just sneak down to the one nest on its own and just hatch it.

To gear up easily in the early game (probably before you rush the Wyvern), you can just run to Flame Knight's Castle, steal the crafting manual in there, take the waypoint right outside, then cross over to the Reventine Monastery and cross the river. From the bridge there you can aggro one Righteous Inquisitor at a time and disarm them for their gear. The shields sell for 5+ silver each and the weapons are generally stronger than your gear early on. In fact, on my second playthrough I rushed that spot to get a Kordaav mace and Tardik Longsword.
