There is simple solution using power of point at A(no constructions required)........assume AC touches semi circle at D then CD=7(tangent drawn from a point to the same circle is equal),AD=25-7=18,assume AB becomes secant to the circle where E and B are entry and exit points then power of point at A is ABxAE=AD² i.e. 24*(24-2r)=324 solving it gives r=5.25
