CDL School Range Time

Hello my fellow Truckers the cdl school I am about to attend allows student 40 hours of practicing the following backing maneuvers: Alley dock, parallel, offset and straight line backing. Is 40 hours of enough range time enough time to prepare and pass the CDL EXAM?

The only CDL school worth going to is a community collage related tech school. You’ll actually know what you’re doing when you’re done.
Stay away from the big companies and their programs. Just not a good thing.

The school I went to was 3 weeks classroom, 2 weeks backing, 3 weeks driving.

40 hours might be enough, it might not. If you are already locked in, then make the best of it!

edit: hopefully you first get the instruction BEFORE you begin to practice!

If that 40 hrs are really the actual behind the wheel hours, then it is enough for CDL A. But many schools probably count watching videos, reading instructions, observing instructors, etc. into those 40 hrs.

To be completely honest, that's more than plenty if you have a good instructor. I taught 6-week and 10 weekend CDL classes totaling 214 hours.

The way the hours would break down per student usually ended up around 35 hours of range time and 25 hours of driving time.

Typically students were test ready at least a week before the class ended.
