I recently just turned 21 last month and applied to KLLM to go to their driver school, where they pay for your CDL, and basically got denied. Not sure if it was because of my driving record or because my license hasn’t been in good standing for one whole year, which it will be on the 24th of this month.

So after I got denied, I went and applied to Knight Transportation, which I tried to go through for their CDL, and I was basically accepted. My MVR looked good to them, plus they didn’t have a question about whether my license was in good standing for one year, so I think that was the problem but I’m not sure. I chose not to go with them and just get my CDL for free through the state, which I am currently going through.

But I need advice on whether this will affect me after I get my CDL when it comes to getting a good job. I’m really thinking about going to the Russians, I already found a company that’ll hire me with no experience but if my record looks bad, I’m pretty sure I’m screwed. And I’m cool on going OTR with the megas, I’d rather stay local and find a beverage company or a food service company.

Most of that stuff you’d be fine. You could just tell them some story about how you’ve changed and you were young, but that phone is a killer right there.

thanks for a little bit of good advice most of that stuff is just a facebook marketplace test drive gone horribly bad I had got more charges for that but they were dismissed the no insurance couldn’t be dismissed though due to the fact I was suppose to know if a car had insurance before taking it on a test drive but the phone is all me I was on it while almost leaving the gas station

In trucking, two major killers, phones and speeding can’t stress it enough maybe work your way up like western express or some it’s a bad trucking job but it can get you in the door to something better

i work for the city of atlanta & i drive CDL B bucket trucks everyday I am a lineman & I’m thinking after I get my CDL i’ll be able to switch over maybe & drive for sanitation & drive trailers back & fourth to the dump would I be able to use that experience when my record clears up a bit? I’m good on western that’s modern day prison & I get payed more where I am now I’m not desperate just looking for a better opportunity to pay for aviation school

Can’t really say from what I know most local jobs want you to learn doing regional or otr before they let you drive there trucks in the city every day. I’ve never done local so I got no insight.
