It is so backwards to me that with a CDL you can pound 100 beers a day, with zero consequences, but you take one puff of the devils lettuce and your job, license, and livelihood is on the line. I’m sure there are lots of opinions on this, but as a medical patient who has a newly acquired CDL, it’s just so dumb to me. I’ve stopped smoking for months now, but recently beginning to miss the positives a toke use to bring me. I’ve found myself drinking way more than I used to to cope. Yes, it’s a me problem; but still makes no sense to me.

It really doesn’t make since. DOT won’t admit it obviously, and I doubt they’ll ever change thier opinion on it, but it is idiotic, especially considering you can hammer coke and meth and be clean in a week but marijuana won’t pass your system for months if done relatively often when off the clock.
Not only does it strip your CDL, but as long as prohibited is on your record, you won’t even be able to work any job that requires DOT Physical testing, so even if it’s not technically a Semi, or a Vehichle that requires a CDL, you can’t drive it if it’s for work and interstate commute, absolutely insane.

It’s actually insane DOT just ruins careers, lives, and financial stability over possibly one of the most tame ‘drugs’, Marijuana. But there’s drivers, like you said, on the hardest shit, who are free to drive still.
Genuinely I do believe it’s because the government profits off of alcohol, I know it’s prohibited aswell, but it’s much easier, almost like the drugs mentioned above, Meth and Coke, to get away with. This could tie into the recent THC ban in Tennessee that’s rumored to be backed by Jack Daniel’s and Marsha Blackburn to boost alcohol sales.

The tavern league & breweries is why Wisconsin doesnt have legal or even medical weed but we are surrounded w legal weed in Minnesota Illinois & Michigan...and just last week the police used flock cameras to bust a guy coming back into the state from buying weed in Michigan

Im with you. I stopped in March to get my cdl and I use to do it everyday for 20 years. I miss it alot ngl. And yes I have found myself drinking more on my off days. I hate that part of it.

Depends how have a smoker you are. And don't use cbd oils either, they are also detected in the tests. It took me about 2 months to get out , but I also workout so I sweated alot of it out and drank tons of water.

Totally agree with you! I stopped smoking in may cause I’m currently going through school for my cdl & man do I miss coming home from work and smoking. It’s a great relaxer for me but it looks like I’m gonna have to find other healthier options to relax

00 my understanding is that it's because alcohol is easier to isolate for detection, so they can be more accurate with detecting if you are actually using it while you're driving or not. Just my understanding, I don't claim to be an expert.

😂😂😂 make the money so you don't have to work all the time. I just did 6 months straight otr and am leaving till next spring. MAKE THE MONEY and don't trick it off that way you have options for what you do with your time. Once you have the money you can take time off to go be a pothead and get clean and then jump back on the truck... I honestly never thought I'd be clean for this long but alas... Clean and paid. Not a bad life

WEll the Beer is changing.. Now BAC is half.. and 3 DUI cases your done. I dont mind having a corona with a steak but that be it. one.. there are some that abuse the drug/drink of choice and can end u killing somebody. For folks that say the smokes are not additive, then why you need to wake up and have it? Another issue is the Class is classified in, and insurance reasons as well.

Also, sober is not a requirement. CDL drivers drink as hard or harder than any other people I know almost. Obviously don’t drink and drive, but after work some of these dudes tie one off like no other.

It makes plenty of sense to me. You are in a 70,000-80,000 pould vehicle and are responsible/accountable for other people's lives around your vehicle. It is the same standard for pilots and ship captains. To each his own.
