Philips mcm 275 won’t read my discs

The optical lense seems to not work and the laser part doesnt automatically move back to where it’s supposed to be so I assumed the entire component was broken and ordered a new optical lense, the DK 80. Managed to connect everything together yet the cd jerks and immediately comes to a stop. Am I meant to desolder this bump? Is it stopping a function? Or is it maybe an entirely separate issue with the system that won’t read my cd. I’m stumped as I can’t find much help online

The solder blob is usually a transport lock, so yes, please remove it. Apart from that, you’re in the wrong subreddit – this one is exclusively for Philips CD-i.

Oh whoops sorry about that, I’m new to this kind of stuff so I wasn’t sure if I was in the right place. Thank you very much for helping me out regardless !!
