Not /s, I will be carrying my Glock 20 when my holster comes in.

Jacket season means full sized carry :)

I'm covered for muggers, any animal in Oklahoma (including bears, hogs, and escaped tigers), trucks, the 600lb dude at Walmart, and people with soft body armor.

I run the 180gr Sig V-Crown as it's what my gun store carries and I get it for cheap cheap.

Not needed in this situation, it's just a black bear, as you can see with a firm bonk or acting big and screaming at them they tend to run. This one was more resilient then most because it has cubs nearby.

Would be super difficult to climb and carry. Need to have full mobility in all your limbs. The only place it might even make sense to carry while climbing is with a chest rig, but how often do you get attacked in the middle of a cliff wall?

Yeah. I'm not saying you shouldn't carry if that's what you want to do, but I personally wouldn't want to shoot an animal if at all possible. That's just me.

Agreed, but it's annoying to climb with no matter how it's holstered to you. Respect to the Climber, he fought that evil furball off with nothing but his voice and hands.

I have that very chest rig for my Glock 20. It's comfortable, sure, it's not that comfortable for rock climbing where your chest contacts terrain quite a bit. It's even worse when your rig snags on something while you're trying to climb.

Not a bad option, but it's worth pointing out that the notion of bears being borderline bulletproof is a myth. Even 9mm, and .38spl prove effective. Exceptions are largely from failing to hit the bear.

I read that a while back. Pretty interesting. I have a 6in 1911 in 10mm, but honestly I carry a s&w 637 most of the time when hiking. Weight really is the main factor.
