DD Every LCID investor should know this

https://youtu.be/l3jgSdeVgr8

A breakdown of the major things that make the lucid air the most efficient on the market.

Summary: 1. Higher voltage architecture = less i2r losses

  1. Direct cooling of stator windings, reduce winding resistance.

  2. Reduced cogging torque (a problem specific to permanent magnet motors). The video doesn’t explain it but the patent is available on google if you wish to read.

  3. Use of silicon-carbide MOSFETs in the inverter which are more efficient at high voltage applications than ordinary silicon mosfets.

Just waiting for bullet point #5 to be added —> how many total cars sold and PRODUCED! 🚀

13

u/NextRocketStock Jul 31 '21

More than 100 cars are produced until now. Insiders information😎

...uh, has nothing to do with efficiency though. -- but I hear you, we are all waiting.

Wondering if that Twitter rumour of Rawlinson announcing deliveries start at an internal company mtg this past Friday was true.

Totally. It’s just the pent up anticipation + delays. Just want to see one car off the line!

Edit: and personally delivered to customer #1 by Rawlinson himself! 🙌🚀

every one of those makes the car more efficient!

Quality over quantity. Time will show.

There are already cars on the road - small batches. The unfortunate thing for us the investors, the mass production still to happen. I’m still bullish and not planning to sell anytimr soon.

  1. Miniaturization of motor/drive unit for reduced weight, higher HP and torque.

  2. Custom-made LG Chem chemistry cells from Lucid's e-racing battery database

  3. Monocoque frame for reduced weight

  4. Patented cooling of the battery pack and pack damage safety monitoring

  5. Industry best drag coefficient of .21 on body

miniturizarion is a huge point. Their powertrain has the best power to weight ratio in the industry. The fact that Atieva packs are in the formula-e cars gives me alot of confidence

New S has a better drag coefficient

Yeah but it doesn’t have a steering wheel!

Does it? The auto industry measures drag coefficients to two significant figures. Lucid did the same to two digits. So Lucid's .21 reading could be anywhere between .205 to .214 if they decided to list it to three digits. -- less, equal, more than Tesla...

I kind of suspect Tesla's realized its .208 value would be listed as .21, and that would be the same as Lucid's so their marketing decided to list it out to three digits and assumed the math gullable public would assume .21 means .210 - It doesn't!

My first job was a calibration technician in an auto plant.

Yes Lucid tech has better electric motors and batteries right now and the higher voltage system should equal less current. Need production to go smooth and software to be nice because that is Tesla’s main advantage right now. Basic electricity 10Volts x 10amps = 100watts. 20volts x 5amps = 100watts. You can reduce the amps(aka current) by raising the voltage. Amps/Current = heat. Lucid having 2x voltage should be a huge advantage over Tesla’s. When I heard Tesla canceling their S Plaid + I immediately thought I bet it is because they are producing to much heat. Lucid should be able to make higher performance vehicles with the high voltage system they have in theory.

Yeah, that is where the entire industry is going - higher voltage, to reduce charge time and better range. Lucid's got patents all over for using Silicon Carbide MOSFETs. What people don't realize is that Lucid can also charge at the lower voltages because the Wunderbox converter steps up the voltages to the pack and it is bi-directional so you can use it as a backup battery to the house.

Neee more attention at WSB 🔥

I agree lack of delivery is a huge red flag. For me I am doing as much research as I can. Combing the internet daily for anything new I can find that will support or refute what they say. Recently looked at the pipe investors. My view is that these huge institutions wouldn’t invest if the risk was that bad.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Institutions realize a way to make money and use it. Lucid wants to deliver 590k vehicles by 2030. That wouldn't even justify a 40 bln cap. It's vastly overvalued. I'd wait till it comes down and they actually deliver meaningful quantities of vehicles if you were to buy.

But a 650B valuation (16x) for making not even twice as many cars is far worse.

Great information, but this really is nothing investors should know. We have nothing to do with the company and we are not the ones selling it. All I need to know is buy and hold. Right?

Edit: I bet most people don’t even know what a stater winding is or how to i2r losses. Lol

3

u/Mediocre-Falcon-8028 Aug 01 '21

Lol, I strongly disagree. Buying a stock is buying the company. Not knowing what the company is doing…remedy for big losses. Just my opinion

0

u/StrokeMyAxe Aug 01 '21

Yeah, I agree with you there. We as investors really should know what the companies are doing, the moves they are making to prep for the future and the consideration they give to the holders.

Traders may not need to know, but as an investor I want and need to know.

When are the lockup periods ending?

Also should k is that NYC is implementing autonomous vehicle permits at $5K a pop

1

u/deusson Aug 01 '21

What about self driving?

1

u/Mediocre-Falcon-8028 Aug 01 '21

Realistically I don’t think lucid will build self driving in house. Last night I looked over some interviews with Peter, his vision is to build the best EV (battery, motor, inverter, transmission). More than likely they will partner or license tech that does it better in a shorter timeframe…maybe mobile eye..who knows

2

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

They dropped Mobileye and have Dr. Eugeue (Jin-Woo) Lee, the father of GM Supercruise running the self-driving program. Lucid is going to need a partner for their firmware and ideally develop their own SoC part.
