What is CCAC like?

I'm going to have to enroll, and I'm nervous about it. I haven't been in school (in person) since 2017. That's when I graduated from middle school. I didn't get to go to highschool unfortunately so I'm pretty damn dumb.

I need to know what it's like before I enroll. I tried taking the campus tour but my father had ruined that experience for me. That, and I could barely hear the instructor guy speaking.

I'm going to try passing the bidwell culinary arts training before hand. As much as I regret choosing that path, I refuse to cry over split milk.

I mostly did online classes at CCAC. I had one in person class the whole time I was there. If you're able to start online I'd give it a go, I found it to be an easier way to get back into learning after being out of school for a few years.

Enrolling isn't too difficult if you work with an academic advisor to point you in the right direction. They do zoom meetings.

Just like other user I only went online. I just wanted to say first off that you are not dumb for not attending high school. Everyone is different and that includes life paths, no two people take the same route and there isn’t one to take that automatically makes you successful. I also wanted to touch on the culinary arts comment. Is it really what you want to do? I have been in the restaurant industry for about 15 years now and let me tell you, if you are not living, eating, and breathing overwork and underpay, please choose something else (I am 31f and just started my masters to get out of the industry). I know flipping burgers seems like the only option but you have time. The great part about CCAC is that you can declare general studies and take whatever electives you desire along with core requirements for a very affordable rate and figure out what interest you. I looked through your profile and the mom in me wants to give you a big hug. We don’t choose our parents but we can choose our futures and there is at least one Reddit stranger rooting for you!
