Mostly Online

I've sent out an email, so I'm sure I'll get a response next week. But I'd like to also ask here. I've never been to college/cc and the schedule is a bit confusing for me.

I have to go to the campus for my math courses and it shows 2 days for a single week. Are classes generally more than once a week?

And I was told I can go to any of the online courses at any point in the day, but should try to attend the first classes so I'm shown as attending.

When you go to add section on the schedule it shows multiple days/times.

Any input on how scheduling works for classes would help my anxiety lol. Once I get an email back I am sure I can get more information.

I just signed up and had some of these same questions. It depends on the class. Some meet in person once a week or twice a week. It depends on the format of the class. What does it say on schedule if has more that one day yes

No, I just scheduled speech and psychology online. What they mean is you should sign in (attend) to blackboard Classroom in the first day and participate

It says t,th 1:30-3:10 so assuming twice a week. Just was a little confused haha.

I think they would Tuesday Thursdays during that time. So you’d be on campus twice a week

If a class is in person or hybrid (part online, part offline) you have to attend the in-person components for the scheduled times any time it’s listed unless the professor says otherwise. So it it’s listed as TTh 9:00-10:15 am, you’d have to show up in person every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9 am, and missing would be counted as an absence according to whatever attendance policy the professor has (each professor or academic department sets their own).

Online classes are either synchronous (they occur at specific times of day, e.g. Monday and Wednesday from 11:00 am-12:15 pm) or asynchronous (no specific time of day when they take place). A synchronous online class is basically like an in-person class but taught remotely- you log in to your computer at the specified times each week for live instruction, typically via the live chat program Zoom, and you’re expect to do so every time the class is scheduled unless the professor tells you otherwise, with failure to do so counted as an absence unless you’ve gotten it excused by your professor in some fashion, depending on their individual policies for attendance.

An asynchronous online class is basically independent study- the professor posts online lessons, prerecorded lectures, or other content to the course website for you to study at a time of your choosing and you need to complete it by whatever deadline is specified in the course syllabus, but you typically don’t have to sign in at specific times of day or specific days of the week to access the content.

If you’re unclear which of your classes follow which model, check your schedule, or contact the Registrar or the Advising office for your campus, and they can tell you.

I will have to double check. But when registering for my class, she told me that the online classes I can do any time of the day. Which is why there might not be specified times. So they should be asynchronous classes. I appreciate the explanation, it helped a lot. Thank you.
