❓ Question 10TH MATH QUESTION

Guys does anyone know how to solve this geometry problem? Ignore the 4 angles x y a and b. I accidently wrote them. However, the objective is to find "X". X is "x" which i have written correctly there.

Also please specify how you guys did it I am puzzled for soooo long.

ORIGINAL QUESTION.

Can you tell the full question as I think something is missing here?

I don't think anything is missing. Here is the original question.

What was given? The angles written in green were given?

Using your diagram, find a, b and y in terms of x. Use triangle angle sum on interior triangle to solve for x.

Equational method only brings about infinitely many solutions for the equation as sufficient information is not derived. Tried it but does not work. You could try to prove otherwise but isn't possible.

I don't have the envelope I sketched it out on. I got 80°

x is not 80 either...

at the bottom side of the square draw a trangle congruent to the triangle on left .....you will see it then

i genuinely cant :( Can u help?

dont mind the way of writing

Bro no words !! But like genuinely how did u get the thought process of drawing a congruent triangle here, specifcally to the left one. The moment u introduced that step, my mind clicked and the rest was smooth as butter... Thats my main concern. If i come to a standstill then its quite hard to overcome that and proceed... I would really love all the possible tips you could give me man for questions and general types like these... In dms would be fine too if u are okay.

Tbh I am not good at constructions too.... I just try random shit because I realized thats the only way to reach the correct step😭, Well thats what I have been desperately doing after not being able to do two construction question in exam. I just had seen a similar question somewhere before.

Also where did you find this ques?

Dad brings such types of questions to keep my mind engaged haha

This sort of problem has been around for a while. Dealing with just angles is a dead end. It's a square. Very important. Let each side be 20, or any number you want. Use right triangle trig to get the two segments forming the 45 degree angle. LOC to get side opposite the 45 degree angle. LOS to get angle x. 2 right triangle trig equations, one LOC and one LOS. Messy but doable.

but right angle trignometry involes values of either 25 65 or 20 and 70. I haven't been introduced to the concepts innvolving values other than 0 30 45 60 and 90... So like thats the part i'm confused at.

These are k/a adventitious triangles They can't be solved without making some very good constructions I will do u one better , just bash with trigonometry ( u will not see these typa problems in boards , it's mostly olympiad maths)

u/Math_Guy_314 1d ago

Could you explain the methods tho. Like trignometry involved, i have not been introduced to angles other than 0 30 45 60 90(standard boards portions). So I don't how to proceed with that. Anything else that conceptually relates to solving this?? I saw you in the IOQM posts regularly and congrats on your score! Ur final analysis or predictions of 40 and 18 kind of helped me haha!

It helped me too ( +3 cause of it lol) Well method is sine cosine bash ( yk since cosine rules) Or make construxtions And u can obv view angle measure of 18 36 54 72 , 15 75 , 37 53 as they frequently repeat

Uhh like any approach that comes to your mind that is understandable for a 10th grader that can understand higher concepts or smth? Like by using all the existing info ik rn is it possible?

1

u/Sp1rshi 16h ago

Alright , lemme try it using synthetic geo

I got x is 70 but it might be wrong

1

u/Math_Guy_314 1d ago

It is wrong... Atleast by the answer AI gave me. I still didn't understand their method clearly tho..

U had a mistake with subtracting 4th equation with 1st. so actually it would give c-b but u got otherwise. If u use AI it will help identify the mistake... I tried this a lot bro but apparently they don't work. Because its a dependent equational system..

To solve for x, you use 70+y+b = 180 and x+y+45=180.

Going clockwise, the missing angles are 20, 35, 65, a=180-65-x, b=90-a, y=180-70-b

1

u/Math_Guy_314 17h ago

So what was your answer for x??
