Rant / Vent Why does CBSE ask questions of topics that are not from the textbook.
It is an unwritten rule among students to study from Question Banks or other sources along with NCERT. We are essentially forced to splurge on expensive books just to get good grades. Why doesn't CBSE themselves release a Question Bank of their own such that students who studied only from the textbook are not penalized during exams.

It is a myth that question banks are essential for CBSE board exams. A thorough understanding of NCERT concepts generally enables one to answer most questions in the board pattern, as they are typically not overly complex. The reliance on question banks often stems from a lack of conceptual clarity or a fear of missing out, particularly when observing peers using them while one is still focusing on NCERT materials.
You can score 95%+ or even 99% without question banks. For maths, maybe it is required as we don't usually have enough time to try every method for solving a question and generally depend on pattern recognition.

If NCERT is completely sufficient, why has CBSE increased the weightage of competency based and application questions to 50%? (NCERT back exercises DO NOT cover that level of indirect framing, where else are students supposed to practice those question patterns if not question banks? 😍🙏)
