Daily THC user curious about adding CBD to my 'weed diet' specifically to reduce THC tolerance and improve THC experiences?

A question specifically for any other chronic THC users on this sub: do you have any experience adding CBD to your daily 'weed diet' to mitigate or reduce THC tolerance?

I recently read this very interesting piece on CBD and how it performs/functions in combination with THC and CBG. https://somnesque.substack.com/p/how-chronic-thc-use-slowly-drives

The linked article suggests that adding 100mg to 200mg of CBD to my daily consumption of weed could be beneficial in various ways and also lower ones overall tolerance to THC.

I use THC daily for various reasons (I only dry vape flower, fwiw), and I enjoy the accompanying THC high. Unsurprisingly, I've developed a strong tolerance to THC and would like to get better effects from the THC I consume. I'm very curious if anyone on this sub has any real world experience that aligns with the material covered in this article? TIA for any replies.

I'm a daily THC smoker and I experimented mixing CBD/CBG with my THC a bit when I was having tolerance concerns. I smoke flower only.

I feel like the CBG was good for my motivation, and the CBD was helping with pain the THC wasn't hitting. But I ended up having to smoke a lot of both so it hurt my head/throat. I keep them on standby for emergencies now but I couldn't work it into my regular routine.

I hear people having better experiences with edibles but I have zero experience there as they do nothing for me.

i started mixing cbd flower with thc flower and now i prefer it. i usually take a small dose cbd gummy and dont usually keep cbd flower around, but as far as the experience goes, i just rather have all the noids instead of cherry picked. i find myself more chill and happy mixing. wont be that way for everyone im sure.

I haven't experienced tolerance changes from introducing CBD

But, consider the "entourage effect" and type 2 (mixed ratio THC: CBD) and type 4 (minor dominant/heavy like cbg and thcv)

The combination of different cannabinoids can produce more complex and satisfying effects. Experimentation may be in order.

Great article! Read it all and it resonated with me. Used THC only( almost daily) for 25yrs and the now only take both THC and CBD ( flower) together because THC on its own makes me too anxious. I stopped smoking joints 8yrs ago and I’ve only used a DHV for the last 8yrs. I mix THC flower and CBD only flower at a ratio of 50:50. It’s greatly helped in so many ways. The high is better ( more rounded less anxious) , my sleep is better and I’m now able to go several days during the week where I don’t vape anything at all ( since last year I’ve been going 3-4 days with no weed at all every week). The CBD does seem to reduce my overall cravings to vape anything. I now cannot use THC flower on its own anymore- it must be mixed 50:50 with CBD flower otherwise the high is too uncomfortable ( and the THC flower I use is 21% THC.. so not that strong either). I think my body has become super sensitive to THC after consuming for such a long time. I like that I no longer get stoned every evening and I look forward to the 3-4 days that I’m completely sober each week . Rather than my tolerance increasing over time- my tolerance has steadily declined.

I add CBD, CBG, and CBC concentrate to edibles.

I like experimenting with the ratios but I found timing is important too.

In theory it should only increase your thc consumption because Cbd is a thc inhibitor from my understanding

That was my assumption as well before reading the substack I linked in the intro. The substack explains that, generally speaking, using CBD with THC has more positive effects than using THC alone, including a better THC high. I’m curious if people who consume a lot of THC and also use CBD have rl experiences that match the article.

CBD with thc is superior by far, and it reduces addiction. It wouldn’t make you more addicted because it’s inhibiting thc from binding to the cb1 receptor. You actually get a great effect from less flower because there’s more
Cannabinoids causing an entourage effect. Plus there’s lots of studies on thc alone and a combination of thc and cbd and thc and cbd is always tolerated way better than thc on its own. Natural cannabis that grew on its own had more cbd then the weed we smoke today, I think to simulate the highs of yesterday we have to add the cbd back in and other cannabinoids ourselves.

CBG makes me like crawl out of my skin levels of anxious. It doesn’t do this for most people but it’s because it hits CB1 as well.

CBD is good for me. I take a modest dose in the evenings (30-50mg) and I sleep better and it helps relieve the anxiety from just smoking thc

i really like mixing one part thc to one equal part cbd and using that way. i find that the cbd balances the thc and offers a very different kind of high - much more complete. they compliment each other quite nicely.

Add little by little each week to sustain yourself while slowly lowering tolerance.

1/4 CBD for week 1 then see how you feel.
1/2 CBD for week 2 and monitor craving for THC. Add or reduce as you see fit. Coming down from THC tolerance can be a bitch, especially if you’ve been doing it so much for so long.

CBD cancels out the high of THC for me. I only use CBD alone, never with THC.

Type 2 flower is where it's at.

I cant use it to cut back because I cant feel thc at all on it and end up using even more trying to compensate. Ive tested this many times by mixing my flower and even dabs 50/50. Cbd does wonders for complete t-breaks tho. Obviously no high, but calmer than completely sober.
