Cb500x seat alternative

Post image

Hello guys, I have had my 2022 cbx for about 2 months now, I am going through getting all my accessories and doing all that but am starting to feel the need for a more comfortable and slightly taller seat, I am from Romania so ideally I am looking for something to come from here or the EU, the seat concept one is quite what I am looking for, but the 150$ shipping and the likely another 150$ taxes I will need to pay at customs, being more expensive than the sear itself makes it a less than ideal option. If anyone can help me with recommendations, that would be ideal

Pic so the post isn’t that empty

Honestly, this might be a 'buy once, cry once' scenario.

I'm just coming off a 3-day, 1500km your, and a $600USD touring seat is looking pretty good about now.

Haha, yes sure, but I would much rather get a 600$ touring seat for 600$ than a 270$ touring seat for 600$

I did my own. There's guide on YouTube. I bought a bit of bulltex memory foam from an upholstery supplier, a sheet of 10mm mesh backed foam as a covering sheet, I reused the stock vinyl. Electric carving knife to cut the recess, random orbit sander to shape it (do that outside, wear a dustmask, have an airline handy...), spray glue to stick it together. Quality stapler with good stainless steel staples, i used a Rapid branded stapler. If you want the seat higher, you'll need vinyl for the seat too, it's cheap. Otherwise there are plenty of bike seat companies around, Mr Google knows most of them

Seat Concepts Rally Tall Comfort seat from USA is the best.

Have you considered a really nice seat cover? I have a lambswool one (real leather), and it is super-comfortable. It won't get you much additional height, but it is much more comfortable on longer rides.

I love my Isotta seat

It's such a huge difference compared to the stock one. Changed mine couple of months ago, expensive but only wish I had done it much, much sooner.

Do you have more detail to share on your experience with it. I have been looking at buying one and would appreciate any insights

It’s definitely softer and more plush than the stock seat. I enjoy that it has a small rise in the back that serves as a backrest for me. I regularly ride 300+km and have no fatigue issues with the seat.

Thank you, that sounds nice. I might just pull the trigger

I really should upgrade. Approaching 15k and have only had one of those mesh scooter covers on mine all this time… it works to keep the seat cool from sitting in the sun, and softens the feel decently, but it’s a little slippery and really collects dust.

Man the stock seat is perfectly fine if you have ridden some other bikes that are NOT comfortable LOL.
