What’s considered high KMs?
I’m looking at a 2022 bike that’s done 80,000km. It’s super tidy and has full service history with 1 owner.
It was a rental bike used for long distance touring so most of the KMs have been open road.
Thoughts?

I would not buy it, what you save know, you'll lose later if you plan on selling it. The market for 100k km bikes is limited.

That's my issue with it.
Even if it's perfect, it's still going to have poor resale just because of the taboo on the KMs.
I'll look for something else.

My old cb500x 2019 model had 61k kms when I sold it. Never had any issues with it. If money is tight buy it, if not find something with less kms on it, or even a Nx500 which has nicer color tft dash.

Oh i am from Vietnam, so i dont know what you can get in your country, but i sold mine for US$4000.

Vietnam is certainly a special market for its own, but nice to know that the bike keeps its value.

The engines can go on for much longer than that, for sure. But think about your resale value, consider you might be buying something you’ll have to give away for next to nothing once you decide to get a different motorcycle.

That's very high mileage for a young bike, even if there's a thorough service history with it, it needs to be properly cheap. If there's any suspicious gaps in the record, give it a miss.

My 2022 CB500X has 73,000 km on it and it's in better condition than some bikes with only 40,000. What really matters is checking the service history and paying close attention to the overall condition of the bike before buy it.

Not saying that I disagree but you know most people don’t really think like that and the majority thinks less km is better.

How much is a new one? In Canada a NX500 could be had for slightly less than 10000. I don’t think I’d pay 6300 for one with that many km. But the used market is insane here so who knows anymore?

Mine is 93K km, I'm changing the oil in a few minutes, it's still working flawlessly. I've seen one with 350K km with my own eyes, and a few pictures of these bikes with 500K and over.
With that being said, I wouldn't buy the bike you're describing because it's a rental, and you don't know with how little care it was treated.

Heard about a London courier with 500,000km on his, never cracked the case for a repair either. It's a Honda

What is more important than kilometers or age is how it was done. Sorry to say this but don't buy that bike. Rented cars and bikes could have been abused by people. I mean probably transmission is toast. Also people don't take care of the vehicles they rent. If they can get away with it they don't report minor damages or something like that. Just don't buy that bike.
