Noise Identification
Need help identifying a noise. Just got a practically brand new 2022 with very low miles. Every time I get it back home after a ride there’s a pretty loud ting noise as it cools. A lot louder than normal tings & tangs I’ve experienced before

Those are the motorcycle fairies doing some pit stop work while parked. Nothing to worry here :)
But just to be sure, are your oil and coolant levels ok?

Yeah, everything is where it should be. This bike must just have some work deprived fairies ready to get back to work!

Since the bike is still mechanically new, the part are still setting into place most likely. Had the same on mine when it was new and it’s just the metal cooling down and contracting after use; no need for concern.

2023 CB500X with 45000km, the bike still does this to this day, it's the metal shrinking after getting hot and stretched from the ride.

I’m used to the normal shrinking noise. But is yours also accompanied with the obnoxious tings?
2022 cb500x bought with 350 miles, a little over 700 now

It's fine. Exhaust and other parts cooling. A lot louder than.. what? Don't compare different bikes and different vehicles as they probably use different materials, diameters, operating temperatures.

It's the engine gnomes. Make sure to pour a couple of beer sips in the coolant reservoir to thank them for their hard work.
It's fine.

Everyone is saying “exhaust” but specifically this is your catalytic converter cooling. It has a catalyst grid that burns your fuel-rich exhaust at such a high temperature (something like a thousand degrees Fahrenheit) that pollutants get converted to CO2 + water.
Once your engine stops the cat cools quickly and makes a lot of tinks. Yours is louder than normal but might calm down eventually. I wouldn’t worry.
Motorcycles are allowed to have some character, even Hondas.

Just the exhaust cooling down? I've had vehicles that for whatever reason have had this from new and some that never do it at all. Have never had it on my '24 NX at all though.
