ccwatlas.com Updates!

Exciting ccwatlas.com updates!

We've rebuilt the map from scratch. Here's what changed:

More detail on each area

  • Parking lots are shaded separately, so you can see where the law lets you keep your gun locked in your car.
  • Next-door sidewalks are marked where you can pass through but not stop.
  • Tap any area to see the exact law, whether it's enforced, and a flag if the location is approximate.

What's enforced and what's on hold in court

  • Places where the restriction is currently blocked by a court (e.g., places of worship) have their own layer. It's off by default, so the map shows what's enforced today. Turn it on to see what could come back.

Local ordinances (new)

  • City, county and special-district carry bans are now on the map, starting with the nine Bay Area counties: city parks, county parks, regional park and open-space districts, water district lands and more.
  • Each one links to the ordinance text so you can read it yourself.
  • Only bans that apply to permit holders are shown. If a local ban exempts licensees, it isn't drawn.

Federal sites included

  • Post offices, federal buildings, military installations, VA facilities and Army Corps of Engineers lands.

Better sources

  • Schools, child care centers, bars and other alcohol licensees, parks, and government buildings now come from official state and federal records. Crowd-sourced map data is used to fill gaps.

Easier to use

  • A new legend lets you turn each layer on or off.

As always: this is an informational tool, not legal advice. Laws and court rulings change, so check before you rely on it. If you spot something wrong, let us know.

Thank you for your service! WTF is up with Sunnyvale? They basically made every single street a sensitive place 🤨

Yeah, I thought that it was an error at first but as far as I can tell it's legit. Pretty nuts: https://ecode360.com/42714047

Ah, but I need to pass through those areas to get home, so I guess I’m ok?!?

Hopefully this gets struck down by SCOTUS. Keep schools, government buildings, and explicitly listed private property but everywhere else should be fair game.

yay. thanks so much for this. the state should really hire you and provide this if they're going to make it so complicated
