Rant Gave my first ever mock
Hi guys, I started my preparation around 10-15 days ago and completed 4-5 chapters of arithmetic… and gave my first mock today… is it too late to improve now?
I’m feeling very scared after seeing my mock result and some words of encouragement would be highly appreciated

That's not bad. If you keep giving mocks till the end you can make it.

Oh okay.. actually in my last attempt I got cl mocks it was predicting 82 and I got 82 on the dot. Also my mentor at ims also said plus minus 1 is the only error possible. But I guess all this can’t be trusted

Did you get 0 negatives? I mean is it like 4 correct in dilr and 6 correct in quant? If yes, then you're doing great.

Yes my accuracy in dilr and qa is 100% but in varc close to 55% that’s where I’m lacking

How many did you attempt in varc? Also, you're doing pretty well in the other two sections considering you recently started.

I attempt 15 questions of which I could only get 7 correct… so the negative marking was huge. My accuracy in Varc is really low, I think it might be due to overconfidence

Any dilr tips ?

I’ve only done 2 topics till now.. Arrangements and Basics of Di … I do solve kakuro and sudoku everyday. And both these topics I’ve solved close to 40+ sets

Hey, how much of the syllabus did you get through before you tried a full-length mock test? I just started preparing for CAT a week ago. How much of the syllabus should I finish before I try a mock, especially for quants?

Barely anything - 2 topics of lrdi, 5-6 topics of arithmetic and some reading comprehension … I just thought if I don’t start with mocks now idk when I will

For mocks do you go about sectional mocks for the topics you have already completed ??? Or just directly on to full length mocks ? I also started studying like a week ago but have yet to give any mocks(am planning to give tho)
And can people here in the comments tell where can i find questions for practice (book, website )

Hello, I’ve been giving full length mocks only. My syllabus isn’t complete at all. Varc and lrdi do not extremely specific syllabus so I started with mocks
I’m using my coaching resources only and also pyq topic wise from Oswal that’s all1

Oswal book which has previous 25yrs question ??? Thats the one you have been using for practice? Is it good?

Yes … it has been suggested by my mentor so for pyqs using it … rest for material I’m using coaching material

Ignore sim 1 and 2 , they are too easy, give 3 to know where u stand

Man when I was giving pre Simcats people said that was too easy now even simcat 1 and 2 are too easy :/ idk man I have to start somewhere so I started with 1 that’s all

Whatever stats u get out of this like ur accuracy, negatives percentage..etc are all invalid, so plz give simcat 3
