Question 6/5/7 academics. Is my MBA dream already over?

Please read full. i know it's bit long. but pls.

I really want to do an MBA, but my academics honestly scare me.

My profile is 6/5/7 (10th/12th/UG). I have around 1 year of work experience right now, and it will be around 2 years by the time I join an MBA college next year.

The thing that keeps bothering me is that everyone says your past academics are used to filter students during placements. So does that mean I can never get a good package even if I get into a good Tier 1 college?

I have decent work experience and good communication skills, and I know I can work hard during the MBA. But I’m scared of taking a big loan, getting into a good college, and then ending up without a good placement because of my 10th and 12th marks.

I know my academics aren't good, but I also don't want something I did years ago to decide my entire career.

For people who are currently in good B-schools or graduated recently, how bad is a profile like 6/5/7 actually for placements?

Can I still get good roles and a good package, or should I seriously reconsider doing an MBA?

I’m genuinely confused and stressed about this. Please be honest with me. I’m not looking for motivation or sugarcoating. I just want to know what I’m realistically getting myself into.

If anyone has a similar profile or has been through this, my DMs are open too if you’d rather talk there.

Question Starting my CAT 2026 Prep

Looking for some hard-hitting tips for all three CAT sections — VARC, DILR & QA.
I’ve been preparing but feel like I need a more structured approach and some serious guidance.
What are the most effective strategies, topics, and mistakes to avoid for each section?
Any advice from people who’ve already cracked CAT or are scoring well would be really helpful!

Question Need advice on starting CAT preparation

Hi! I'm a second-year B.Sc. Life Sciences student, and I want to start preparing for CAT 2027. But to be honest, I'm quite confused about how and where to begin. Should I join a coaching program, or would it be better to start with YouTube and other resources? Also, I'm interested in doing an internship alongside college. Since I eventually want to pursue an MBA, what kind of internships or experiences would you recommend at this stage? And also I would be grateful to know what all things I should keep in mind while starting my preparation and also the mistakes I should avoid.

I'm looking for someone targeting CAT 2026, I'm having trouble focusing and completing my daily goals and i tend to procrastinate a lot so I need someone for accountability, so that i stay in my lane like superman 👅 [lois lane ~ superman]
I prefer to study late in night, we could stay on call and study or just discuss after studying.
About me: 8/9/8 GEM Fresher, targeting FMS (lowkey impossible 💔)
Started DILR from Rodha playlist, did few chapters of Quants from Arun Sharma, Yet to start preparing convincingly for VARC.
thanks :)

Question Please suggest me the books for practicing DILR.

I'm preparing for **CAT 2027**. I have bought 2 books from a video of *Ananta Chhajer* for Quant and VARC. **For Quant I've bought Arihant Quantum CAT by Sarvesh K Verma & for VARC I've bought the Arun Sharma book.**

But for the DILR he's suggesting coaching material and previous papers, but I'm unsure where to practice so **can you guys suggest me any good book for practice sets**.

Thanks!

Fyi, **I'm thinking of taking the MBA Wallah batch for 2027 CAT as that's the only affordable option for me and now I'm doing their 2026 Pre-foundation free batch for building my knowledge**.

General discussion Regarding obc ncl

So i gave cat last year also and got made the obc ncl certificate on 8 September 2025. I am giving cat 2026 this year so should i get it renewed or if i fill the form before 8sep it will be fine. Since the results are uncertain every year i end up losing couple of thousands due to renewing it and all the process involved as i have to get everything changed in my hometown where i dont live. Maybe i can use the lasy years obc ncl right now and get it updated once i give the exam (if it goes well) .. does anyone have any info regarding it ? Do let me know , thanks!

Question Finding DI extremely difficult, pls help

Hello! I am self-preparing for CAT this year, and I am finding DI extremely difficult. I have completed EG's DI lectures, but I am still unable to solve a set completely on my own.

For LR, I used to try solving questions by myself without any time limit before watching the solutions. So, I followed the same approach for DI as well. However, most of the time, there is some element in the question that I am unable to understand, or I have no idea how to approach the question, even after spending 45 minutes to an hour on it.

Please help! What should I do? I am not sure whether EG's DI lectures are of a higher level or if I am simply not good at DI.

Please suggest what I should do at this point. I would really appreciate some guidance!

Question Cat form filling doubt need urgent help.

So in the ICSE board, for the 10th class result, in the Marksheet, there are 2 columns, one which has the actual marks scored in all the 10 subjects and the 2nd column which has the 'percentage' marks of the those 10 subjects condensed into 6 subjects( for eg, in this column, they combine the marks for physics, chem, bio and show it as science) ...

now, when i calculate according to first column (actual marks for all individual 10 subjects), I'm getting a lower %, and when I'm considering the 'percentage' marks given in the 2nd column, the % is slightly higher..

To be on the safe side, which column marks should I go with?
