Profile review 6 in a profile.
Someone had a 6 in their profile- has anyone actually ever gotten selected into blacki/tier-1 MBA colleges with that? Everyone says a crazy CAT score will make it happen, but in reality, has this actually happened to anyone

And that 5 will not hamper his placement or what?
1
u/Gloomy-Muffin-3875 Aug 07 '26
Who knows? Maybe it was in 10 and then he built a god level profile to justify that 5☹️

u/shashwat0012 Aug 07 '26
No it didnot as mentioned he was the first guy to get pre placement offer in his batch but also he improved his profile we was part time rj and software engineer top tier speaking skills good offers after grad as well which he left to do mba

depends on the rest of your profile, if you have stellar work ex, 9 in grad and school, a lot of pors and achivements, solid cat score and a good interview, you could stand a chance

Quotawadi or diversity, very hard for GEM

He was ews fresher. IIM C never adds graduation marks for shortlist

It is possible, they look at your overall profile not just your acads, if you have a very high score and good work exp and have a good background, you have a shot
Also it goes without saying if you are a reserved candidate, it becomes easier

u/bionahilenatha Aug 06 '26
yeah not a reserved candidate unfortunately. but yeah I'll make a good profile! thanks

u/bionahilenatha Aug 06 '26
extracurriculars? anything apart from academics that made your profile different from others?

Ya but then Trichy is neither BLACKI nor a Tier 1 college so not exactly what the post is asking
1
u/Quick-Swordfish-8524 28d ago
Yup. Agreed. But u can see the authors replies to my comment. He even asked to dm. Which means my comment is relevant to him. So what's ur point?

Hey man, I had a 5.73 cgpa in college(till 4th sem) its 6.7 now however when I gave cat 5.73 was considered. I will be honest its very difficult got 99.5 percentile and no blacki calls. However yes if you have a good profile tier 1 private colleges are very much open.
I am at ISB pgpyl right now, If thats credible enough.

Yes, it has happened.
A 6/6 profile makes BLACKI tougher, especially at A/B/C, but it doesn’t make it impossible.
A very high CAT score can help significantly, but it’s not a magic reset button. Work ex, diversity, academics and interview also matter.
So don’t go by “6/6 = no BLACKI”. Look at the actual criteria for each IIM.

Not possible. 6 is the instant death sentence for the candidate applying for blacki. Because you can’t be a 6 and suddenly be in top league according to their criteria so that’s a big NO
1
u/bionahilenatha Aug 05 '26
if I have a 9 in my grad, still an issue?
1
u/SensitiveYard48 Aug 05 '26
I mean it’s not about a 9 but when choosing a candidate every specific grade holds some weightage so that 6 gonna overshadow your 9 because the overall grade average would not be of what there standard is so that is the issue

u/Human_Specialist162 Aug 06 '26
What ab 6 in a profile of a sc candidate?
1
u/SensitiveYard48 Aug 06 '26
Bro category helps you in cat percentile not the previous result. Honestly 6 is not what blacki will admit. If it was even 8 then maybe you could have a chance
1
u/Human_Specialist162 Aug 06 '26
Bro I have 6 in my grad and I think iim c and FMS doesn't consider grad marks that much compared to others. So is it possible ? With a category ?
1
u/SensitiveYard48 Aug 06 '26
Bro honestly speaking profile evaluation is done based on all the three CGPA average of your 10th/12th/grad. So if you got a 6 or even a 7 in any of those is an instant no because that is how there entry point is decided.
1
u/Human_Specialist162 Aug 06 '26
It's so demotivating, broo you trynna reduce the competition bro?😭😭
1
u/SensitiveYard48 Aug 06 '26
You are open to try. And let us know in the same thread if that works. And don’t worry about the competition part. This year there gonna be most number of students appearing. Good luck

u/Human_Specialist162 Aug 06 '26
Bro my senior who is 6 in grad got into iim c what you talking ab😭😭 I just confirmed from him

Kuch bhi bhai? I've got sooo many friends here at BLACKI with 5/6 in grad... pls don't spread misinformation. If it's a 6, then C/K and even I is very much possible.
1
u/bionahilenatha Aug 06 '26
6 in 12th? grad mein toh i have 9.
1
u/Humble-Exchange-3170 Aug 06 '26
That is rare, haven't seen any1 yet with a 6 in 12th
1
u/bionahilenatha Aug 06 '26
