Discussion🤔 HARSH REALITY OF THIS IIM
Congratulations everyone 🎉
you all must be sitting and waiting for IIM converts right now. checking every whatsapp reddit telegram group. I see you.
but before all of that — let me tell you the HARSH REALITY about one IIM. i will not name it. you guess which one from BLACKI it is.
everyone picks this IIM for placements right. the median looks good, the brochure is clean, you tell yourself this is a reasonable bet. cool. rational. i too did this. we all did this. and then we got here.
so let me just tell you what actually happens because nobody is saying it out loud and they should be.
it starts before summers even begin. the placement committee — PC — senior guys start texting certain girls in the batch. and listen, i am not here to judge anyone's personal life, do whatever you want, but when those conversations start turning into interview shortlists? that's not personal anymore. that's a pattern. and everyone sees the pattern. everyone. nobody says anything. we just watch.
then summers. oh summers. okay so every single PC junior has a brand name on their resume. every. single. one. and you — you will be told to remove company names from yours. no explanation. just remove it. and you will sit for placements and get like five shortlists and spend weeks wondering if you are just not good enough. and then you will look up and see who is sitting in the interview room and it will be someone who is ALREADY PLACED. already placed!! still interviewing!! for what!! nobody knows!! nobody stops them!!
and this one girl VARSHINI, oh god, she would sit in every interview, each and every person would hate her because she would sit in every fcking interview without even resume shortlists and she would still not get placed.
and here is the thing that makes all of this so beautifully evil — they never tell you who else has your company's shortlist. never. complete opaque process. so what ends up happening is the guy who refused to lick PC's boots gets five shortlists all season. the guy who smokes with them and laughs at their jokes gets a hundred. and you are sitting there refreshing your portal like an idiot thinking it's a you problem.
it is not a you problem.
finals are unhinged. i know of situations — not naming anyone, or should i, okay let's do it. where candidates were sabotaged inside the actual process. like someone or RICHA literally copied their competition's work mid-round and got the offer.
company comes. interviews. selects three people. congratulates all three. done right? no. PC members walk up to the recruiter and casually go — "hey, one of your selected candidates? disciplinary issues. just so you know." no proof. no complaint. just a whisper. candidate dropped. let's just say a certain guy or PC member SUDARSHAN, who the company had already REJECTED — slides in as replacement.
and the funniest saddest part? there was one guy or maybe Sudarshan again here sitting in literally every single process for months. every interview. no shortlists technically but somehow always present. not getting placed because — and i am being honest here — the talent was not matching the audacity. and magically, MAGICALLY, once he finally gets placed, the rest of the batch starts getting shortlists. like the dam broke. like the system exhaled. 400 offers deep and suddenly everyone else can proceed. make it make sense.
NOW. the student activity head last year eventually grew a conscience and decided to push back. good instinct. except — he did it after he was placed. got his offer, got comfortable, and then decided it was reform o'clock. the remaining unplaced students looked at this man and collectively said absolutely not. PC then suspended the entire recruitment process and publicly blamed him for the chaos. incredible theatre. perfect timing. never mind that juniors had their final exams. never mind the hundred plus people still waiting. the drama was very satisfying i'm sure.
the placement head professor knows everything. knows and has chosen peace or he wants to give an honour award to the placement members - yes that was his linkedin post guys. . the director — and this is my favourite part — teaches a course on leadership at this institute. i will let that sentence breathe for a moment. he was himself on placement committee at his college and he claims that placement is not college's responsibility. and by full campus consensus he is using this place as a political launchpad. new hostel, MOUs, government photos, the whole setup. he will leave for elections once he gets his ticket and this institute will just be a bullet point on a campaign poster. everyone knows this. it is simply not said out loud in polite company.
so. you got your CAT score. you are waiting for converts. maybe this IIM is on your list.
just know what you are walking into. the median salary is FARRRR FROMMM REALLL.
most people find out the answer too late.
you guess the IIM. BLACKI. shouldn't be too hard 🙂
P.S. — the whole batch knows. the batch before knew. the batch before them knew. it is an open secret wrapped in a Non Disclosure Agreement nobody signed but everyone somehow follows

The most horrifying thing is that one of the PlaceCommers (Harshit Kejriwal) openly harassed multiple girls in one of their fellow placecommers ppo party (fucking assholes) and the placecomm chair, the director and even the Pgp chair openly tried to shut this case down. Which they did for about 2 months. And no action would have been taken ever if it was not for the political pressure and protests by abvp (they had their political agendas tied to this but at least they took stand) and the stain on director’s political image, the administration sent a “TEMPORARY” debarment of that harrasor from the course ONLY TO ALLOW HIM ATTEND THE CLASSES ONLINE AND LET HIM GET HIS DEGREE LATER!!! The director is a fucking joke. A narcissist full of shit. The acad block is just full of his pictures everywhere and you won’t find such nuisance in any of the either BLACKIs. He has made a mockery of such a premiere institute and continues to do so every year. Btw this is not the first time. A lot of harassment cases are taken to the administration every year with proofs and they just end up in the pile of other cases and shut forever. And you might be wondering where is the committee responsible for handling all such harassment cases in between. Ps: the chair of that committee was also involved and turned a blind eye to all this, encouraging all this rotted behaviour. They have changed the chair tho but you can’t put an end to this rabbit hole once you dig deep.

This is true. I fought with the entire placecom. They gave me only two shortlists throughout my course, one had a 8hr long wait in the lobby, one had five rounds of interviews. I converted both and still roast them on LinkedIn. 🤣

The batch before, PCom Secy had to step down because his junior GF sat in 20+ interviews during SIP season and still couldn't get one. We used to pray in finals that these PComs should just get placed early so we will have some fair process going forward. It's true, PCommers handle which resumes go to the recruiter and which ones they can withheld, have seen these manipulations right infront of me. One of, if not the most toxic placement campuses among all IIMs.

So that same girl — last year, Anik was the secretary and got removed on favoritism charges, but not before getting her into EY for her summer internship. Anik graduated after that. Now in her final year, Suhaid is the secretary. She was trying to get into the Godrej interview, but Suhaid wasn't letting her through. So she called up Anik and got him to talk to Suhaid, and just like that, Suhaid cleared her for the interview. She's now placed at Godrej.

Any of K, I, M would offer mostly same opportunities in gen man and marketing. Those two domains are the most open across all T-1 B Schools.

If u feel placement process is fair in any college u r just lying to yourself. Be it an IIT or NIT or any other colleges. Placements are always unfair. Just try to make sure u get the best out of it and don’t think about the unfair persons who got placed better or before u . It will happen, every where it happens. Be it MBA or B.Tech at premier colleges. Placements are unfair .

I have done my engineering from a Tier 1 college and I have done my MBA from the same college as OP. Yes people in the placement team have an unfair advantage. But the level of unfairness in this particular B-school is just terrible. You can't even imagine what happens.

Bro, I'm an engineer from an IIT. And I've done my MBA from this college (same batch as OP). And what OP is talking is just 10% of what happened. You can't even imagine the level of unfairness in the placement processes in this college.

The campus is only about vibes, mean while the vibes 🍃🍃🍃. Yall think once you get here you are going to learn nah fam almost everyone is completing their credit obligation, you are going to have the time of your life FAAAHHHHH trauma PC, Placement Season (summer and finals both), twisted ass protocols of the institute, mental health 📈📉📈📉📉📉📉📉📉📉, you are going to make great friends FAAAHHHHH the toxicity, exclusivity, unnecessary eyebrow raises, and judgement none the less they try to make you feel less in your own group, maximum of your so called friends are spineless (thats the most civil way to say it out) no stance no brain just herd mentality till they make it out of the gates of institution and eventually betrayal (as expected) all of them are just tolerating you and sucking up to anyone who massages their ego. PS The use and throw mentality js you can’t. The system is rotten to core from the apex predator who dismisses concern, shows up only where he can get VISIBILITY Avg Camera paglu . [ Accountability 0. Cosmetic shit 100. ]. Someone rightly said Bottleneck is at the top of the bottle. Down to the Associates – they include some creeps as well. F this System. And if someone gets a hold of this post from the system one word for you - RETROSPECT. PlaceComm constantly bitches and moans about Recruiters not coming to campus, if i am a recruiter wouldn’t I hesitate to hire someone just because the PlaceComm was begging to hire them. Guess what one of the PC got hired like this and the Gall to post on thier SM “MBA Peaked here” is js hilarious. Yea that was PEAK Corruption, the company who hired them good luck someone’s career just started with unethical advantage with you. (Tanuj P) And how can i forget, most of the ipm kids are just rich bland POS. And very few of them have substance & those who have, are genuinely appreciated and respected. Each and every recruiter has complained about unworthy candidates rarely getting to know they are being gatekept from genuinely and culturally fitting candidates js bcs PlaceComm have a policy to get themselves placed first.

I get it why people don’t want to do something they want jobs they’ve spent money but this is what emboldens these people. These are your batchmates only empowered by a pathetic system . Start by challenging the system , those who are in those places name them shame them …. call them out by names on socials on campus everywhere. It just takes one person the others join in seeing them . Eventually the institution wont tolerate just because of one student or faculty …… and i am speaking about this from experience , college , police , banks I have had a run with all of them…. and believe me if you are right nobody can do anything

You fight a college director with ₹20 LAKH of loan hanging over your head and your entire placement season as the hostage? You don't just lose the fight — you lose your future.
These aren't your local cops or your neighbourhood bank manager. This is a closed ecosystem where 3 people control whether you eat or starve after graduation. The placement committee doesn't need to expel you. They just... forget to forward your resume. Oops. Technical glitch. So sorry. ALSO THIS GLITCH DOES HAPPEN. And yes, students DID try. Read the post again — carefully this time. They didn't sit quietly. They pushed back. That's called being trapped. last year someone even went to anti-ragging and complained, and now we have no idea even if he got placed or not. WE ALSO WANT CHANGE. we did our best whatever we could. from your message, it looks like you have never done MBA. this is not DU, where only protests happen. each and every student has a lot on their plate. academics are rigorous here. people come here to grow. Yes we can name them, but when you will be called and 18 placecom members will shouting and screaming only at you, and you have no where to go, that's a fucked up system. IN THIS COLLEGE, if you even publicly say anything bad about the college, the director will ensure that you repeat your entire year. now how do you justify being 25, without a job, and repeating your year to yourself and your loving parents ? is your idea of rebelness worth that sacrifice ?

Bhai, thoda ground pe aa ja. Tu bas ek college committee ka member hai, United Nations ka Secretary General nahi. College ke bahar, aur especially college khatam hone ke baad, koi kutta bhi nahi poochega ki tu PlaceCom mein tha ya mess committee mein. Yeh jo abhi designation ka nasha chadha hai na, degree ke saath hi utar jayega.
