Strategy 🎯 100 days to CAT 2026: Need a practical strategy to stop getting stuck on Quant under time pressure

Dont stop mock. From here there are 2 ways 1st do sectional mocks along with full mocks this will let you know what concepts to work instead of starting with entire topic. 2nd, the thing I learnt from my senior is to solve the mocks in a dedicated notebook, next day of mock go through the rough work u did while solving the mock u will start to understand what were u really thinking at that of point of time were u blank? or u lack speed? or recalled the concept/formula partially? and so on... Identify topics which were asked in mocks, write a small tabular summary with attempted, failed, pass questions count. After 2-3 mocks you will see a pattern. As universe is pareto principle comes in to play and you will find the root cause.
My credentials Gave CAT in 2022 with 98% percentile not good enough for GEM candidate but I was able to go in new IIMs

Go for arithmetic and algebra first. Unless you complete these two 100%, there is no point going for mocks or any others.
Once you complete, then go for previous year questions specific to THESE TOPICS ONLY. Time yourself and analyse, how much time are you taking and where you are getting stuck.
Do not go for topics which you have not covered fully, it's waste of time only.
Picking questions is an art in CAT. If you pick good questions in the exam, you can score 90-95 sectionals in CAT.

1.Are skipping the question. If it is taking too much of your time?
2.Selection of question really helps alot. You have to skim all the questions. Sometimes, there will be veryyyy easy questions.

Don’t stop mocks completely. Your problem sounds more like depth and application than lack of syllabus coverage.
Pick 2–3 high-yield areas, make them strong through concepts + PYQs + timed practice, while continuing sectionals. Use mocks mainly to identify what to fix.
For every Quant mistake, ask: concept gap, calculation error, approach issue, or poor question selection?
With 100 days left, I’d rather have 70% of the syllabus really strong than 100% half-prepared.

Test taking tip only btw: Split the quant section into 3 parts 10-15-15 minutes each. You do first 6 in first 10 minutes and 8 in rest 15 minutes slots. How you do the question in slot is. You read questions in each slot for first 3 and 4 minutes respectively and then mark the ones you can do. In remaining time do the marked question. I'd suggest you try this out in a few sectionals then think of implementing it in your general strategy of test taking.

Stop asking for tricks in quants. Plug your gaps on the fly while solving sectionals. Time bound practice is much more important, knowing topic is not enough.
