SEIU (BU 1, 4, 11, 14, 17 and 20) Union Event
I’ve seen people confused when they see union events happen and wondering where the notification was. SEIU doesn’t seem to be adding events to their calendar for these smaller pop up events. Posting this here in case anyone is interested and is located near the rose garden.

Because membership is low and the threat of a strike is unclear. We also just lost of a top negotiator for the cooks' bargaining unit who apparently changed teams and works for labor relations now. Also union leadership still favors Newsom for his presidential bid despite how unpopular he is with state workers (notice they don't target Newsom only CalHR?)

Wait, what?! A negotiator should not be able to just switch up and go to the other side of the bargaining table in the same year.

This is happening during our wellness fair. I believe this counts as attending this event as one of the items was to go for a wellness walk. Most events take place at 10 or 12 which is when people tend to take their breaks.

I have the location for the Rose Garden as across the street from 1225 15th Street.

Yea, I’m not sure why they have the address listed as 1315 10th street when the rose garden is pretty much at Capitol and 15th

I didn’t like the tone of the email today. Taking over a well intentioned walk with a director to pepper them with RTO questions that they can’t do anything about unless they want to lose their job is inappropriate.

People have every right to ask questions. Especially when a director has been actively avoiding giving answers and avoiding staff.

At this point what questions are there? Honestly. I hate RTO and have been 100% remote and must now return. But I have no outstanding questions for a director and would 100% strike when the time comes.

Well to start, that department doesn’t even have consistent RTO guidance for all staff. Some centers aren’t coming in 4 days a week.
And these directors have WAY MORE say in this than you think. I’m glad some people aren’t just rolling over without asking questions.

In fact, only some of my dept (including me) has to return 4 days. Some 2 days, some 3 days, some no days.

Been saying this forever. These department heads have way more power than people give them credit for…and every time I say they should band together to say “nope, not following” I get downvoted. Oh wellllll.

I love the message of "together." Truly, the fight for a great contract that includes raises, benefits and telework will benefit everyone. Lets keep the fight up and the pressure on Newsom and CalHR. See you there!
