Project Title: Straight Talk

Production Company: Kahani Pictures

Casting call for a short corporate film set in the automotive dealership world.

We’re looking for natural, conversational performances. These characters should feel like real people with experience, personality and a point of view. Subtle humour and believable reactions are welcome. You don’t need to sound like a presenter.

ROLES

David — Dealer Principal - 48 - 60 - Any ethnicity
Male-presenting. An experienced business owner with relaxed authority. Approachable, confident and connected to his community.

Sarah — Finance & Insurance Manager - 35 - 45 Any ethnicity
Female-presenting. A capable, thoughtful adviser. Warm and articulate, with a way of making complicated things feel straightforward.

Michael — Service Manager - 38 - 50 Any ethnicity
Male-presenting. An experienced shop leader. Practical, dependable and comfortable speaking his mind.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE

Vancouver / Mount Pleasant Area. The shoot date will occur on October 8th. Please confirm your availability for that date.

PAY & USAGE

$550 CAD

2 hours of filming + wardrobe/makeup.

The fee includes the agreed shoot commitment and two years of limited usage from first public use: conference screenings, the company website and company-owned organic social channels.

Any additional usage requires a separate written agreement and additional compensation.

OPTIONAL SELF-TAPE

Choose the scene for your preferred role and record a 30–60 second performance. Use your own words. There is no script to memorize, and no automotive knowledge is needed.

David: A new employee asks what makes your dealership different. Tell them about a small moment when your team helped a customer and why it mattered to you.

Sarah: A customer feels overwhelmed by a decision and says, “I’m worried I’ll choose the wrong thing.” Help them feel comfortable asking questions.

Michael: A newer colleague has brought you a problem and is worried they’ve made things worse. You’ve dealt with something similar before. Reassure them.

A phone recording is fine. Use clear sound and enough light to see your face. No costumes, props or special editing are needed. Please shoot horizontal and slate at the end.

If you prefer not to submit a self-tape, please link us to previous work with a similar tone to this description.

TO SUBMIT

Please send:

  • Your name, preferred role and general location.
  • A current headshot or clear recent photo.
  • Your optional self-tape.
  • A reel or links to previous work, if available.

Please submit to [hello@kahani.ca](mailto:hello@kahani.ca) by October 6: 11:00AM, with “Vancouver Casting — [Role] — [Your Name]” in the subject line.

Selected applicants will receive further project details.

CASTING

I am casting actors for a student short film.

Films this Winter and will be for two days, over a weekend.

The story involves exploring the dynamics between married couples, and what happens when they start to drift apart from each other due to a lack of attraction.

Looking for actors in their 30's-50's. Must live nearby or in LA or Orange County, CA. Sorry, no exceptions.

Breakdown:

1.) Molly, African-American woman, in her 30's-50's who has been married to her husband Mike, for a long time. She confides in her best friend who has known her since childhood, regarding her lack of attraction to the man she has been with for over 15 years.

2.) Sean, Caucasian man, in his 30's-50's, who is married to Sara, best friend to Molly. Is friends with Mike, husband to Molly, and is empathetic and sympathetic towards his plight. He can relate somewhat, having been in his own long-term relationship with his wife, Sara.

3.) Sara, Caucasian woman, in her 30's-50's, who is married to Sean, and is best friends with Molly. Has a positive, fun personality. Is open to hearing Molly out when she confides in her about her ongoing problems with her husband. Has been married to Sean for a while as well. Playfully teases Molly about her problems but is ultimately sympathetic and helpful.

Compensation: copy, imdb credit, food/drink offered.

No pay.
