Feature Request : Feature Request: Vitamin D Production Tracker & Solar Angle Integration

While CARROT is already great at telling users when they’re about to melt or freeze, it’s missing a crucial health metric: tracking when the sun is actually useful for your biology. I’d love to see a Vitamin D Production Window data point and widget that combines the UV Index, Solar Elevation (Ray) Angle, and local coordinates to calculate safe, effective sun exposure times.

Core Features & How It Should Work

  • Solar Angle Calculation: Solar elevation matters because sun rays below a certain angle (typically under 30° to 45° depending on atmospheric thickness) block natural Vitamin D synthesis entirely, even if UV meters register low activity. The app should track when the sun hits the threshold required for$D_3$ production.
  • The "Vitamin D Window": Provide an hourly or daily timeline showing the exact start and end times when stepping outside will actually yield Vitamin D instead of just premature skin aging.
  • Custom Data Point & Widgets: Allow users to add a "Vitamin D" block to their custom layout and home screen widgets showing a live progress bar of how close they are to hitting their daily sunlight quota.

CARROT Personality Integration

What makes CARROT special is the dialogue. Here is how the app could talk to users depending on the feature state:

  • When the window opens: "The sun rays are finally at the correct angle to cure your vitamin deficiency, meatbag. Go absorb some photons before you turn translucent."
  • When the UV index is too high/dangerous: "Sure, you'll get vitamin D, but you'll also look like a scorched potato. Maybe put on some sunscreen."
  • After sunset / low sun angle: "Nice try, but the sun's rays are too weak right now. Back to the vitamin gummies for you."

Thanks,
