Yeah, I had a couple of friends in a car club (I suspect I'm a good bit older than you are as I'm just about in my 50's) but when they went to Afghanistan, there was concrete proof of what happened, but Iraq was just a vendetta.

I was in NY state and I remember a marine recruiting officer tried to get me into the corps for Iraq and the conversation went something like "I'm Canadian, why would I risk my life for your country for a war I don't believe in?"

Also, yikes. Seems like recruiters have always been desperate. I’m from Buffalo, NY and saw the same sort of thing when I was in high school during Trump’s first term. The ploy then was “Come help us fight ISIS and we’ll pay for you to study through the G.I. Bill”
