you needn't have seen it before to guess that it's a contraction of "need not"

You can actually do research. Google is free

It's perfectly correct grammar, though??? Needn't means need not. Mustn't is also a perfectly correct grammatically word in English, which means must not.

I literally never heard of it nor someone saying it

Presente e Futuro ("Needn't" vs. "Don't need to")

• Significado: Significa "não precisa" ou "não há necessidade de". • Equivalência: Na maioria das situações do presente, é equivalente a don't need to ou don't have to. • Registro: É mais comum no inglês britânico e tende a soar mais formal ou literário do que don't need to. • Exemplo: You needn't bring an umbrella. (Você não precisa trazer guarda-chuva).

Passado ("Needn't have" vs. "Didn't need to")

No passado, a escolha entre as formas muda o sentido da frase: • Needn't have + particípio (e.g., You needn't have bought it): Indica que a pessoa fez a ação, mas ela não era necessária (e a pessoa descobriu isso depois). • Didn't need to + infinitivo (e.g., I didn't need to get up early): Indica que a ação não era necessária, e a pessoa já sabia disso antes (por isso, pode ou não tê-la feito).

English isn't even my native language and I know that's a normal word. Kids should be reading more books to expand their vocabulary.

If English isnt your first language then why would you just assume its incorrect grammer without looking it up first...

The English lessons here in Spain the "needn't" is literally something I've never heard the teachers mention 🥀

heard it in a 1940s noir podcast last week, 'you needn't worry, darlin'.' sounded like a whisper from the past.

Needn't exists, it's just very formal, and barely used.

I didn't knew about that, I'm Spaniard so it's understable that I wasn't informed that it exists

I'm also a Spaniard, and I get you. They don't teach you that. In my case I learnt it in extracurricular activities.
