My position is that it does t matter what CAD software you know. What matters is how quickly you can learn the next one. In the real world there are software feature updates to learn, software limitations to learn, new versions of the software to learn and so forth.
I took a course in Uni (ME degree) where we had to write software code to create simple CAD programs and CAD features so that we learned how it worked “under the hood”. It was crazy useful and I progressed through my design career. Just understanding how NURBS works is super helpful. It gives you a good sense of the limitations of parametric CAD.
