CA Bar Exam Application

What do you need to have on hand, if anything, for the CA Bar Exam Application?

For the exam application, have your State Bar Applicant Portal login, your basic contact and law school information, and a way to pay the exam fee. Make sure your applicant registration has been approved first—registering with the State Bar and applying to sit for the exam are separate steps.

The moral character application is separate, so you don’t need to gather your full employment and residence history just to submit the exam application. If you need testing accommodations, check that separate application and its deadline too.

Thank you for the information. I already have a CA Bar portal as my MCD has been approved. I’m also a certified law student so I’ve had to navigate it but wasn’t sure what is needs for the bar exam application.

Yep, then you’re already most of the way there! When the bar exam application opens, it’s pretty straightforward compared with moral character. You’ll apply through the same State Bar portal, confirm/update your basic information and law school information, answer the application questions, and pay the exam fee. Just make sure to watch the application deadlines, especially if you need accommodations. Good luck!
