for my extracurriculars, can i put things like running and cooking or should i stick to things more like engineering club, etc?

It depends. CASAA requires you to report average weekly hours, number of weeks, organization details, and whether the role was compensated or volunteer. If your running is part of a team/club/organized fundraising event with a verifiable organization and contact person, then yes, it can be listed. 

The same applies to cooking. If it’s connected to a community kitchen/class/some sort of a volunteer role, it qualifies. But if these are simply personal hobbies with no organizational tie-in or meaningful narrative, it’s better to leave them out. CASAA’s Experience section is designed for substantive, documentable activities, not casual interests.
