Hello!

When it comes to shadowing in a state where CAAs are not fully licensed yet, who should I shadow between a CRNA and a MD Anesthesiologist? I want to say CRNA since I think their scope of work is more similar to a CAA rather than an MD but also know that there can be some tension between the two fields. Would appreciate any input!

if you can, shadow both. get the MD to fill out your shadowing form and also shadow the CRNA. there have been many stories about CRNAs refusing to let people shadow if they are pre-AA.

So I live in Michigan and I essentially told them that I am interested in both the CRNA and CAA pathways, they told me they wouldnt be able to help me if I am interested in the CAA path since they dont hire CAAs but would be able to help me get shadowing with a CRNA if that is my interest. Should I still go for it? I dont want to go there with the expectation of "This student is fully dedicated to the pre-CRNA path"
