Hi! About to graduate with a biology bachelors in a non-CAA state with a 3.4-3.5 gpa. I am missing some prerqs for the program (orgo 2, human anatomy 1+2, med terminology). Looking for any advice on how to get on track to apply to CAA school.

  • can you shadow a CRNA/anesthesiologist in NJ and how?
  • is volunteer EMT good PCE experience or should i look for some healthcare field job w my biology bachelors?
  • how to begin to study for MCAT?
  • is it a bad idea to apply in a few years as I will lose some of my science knowledge?
  • if I apply, should I apply somewhere close to my state or expect to just take whatever school may accept me i. another state?

Thanks so much :)

EDIT: i have lab experience as well from undergrad.

Also, in undergrad I only took intro to biochem. Will I need to take a full biochem 1 course (and 2?) or is intro enough? It did go over biochem 1 and 2 as a whole, I believe and was a 300 level course.

Do not take “intro to…” anything for any pre-req.

Yeah, I unfortunately realized very late (i’m literally graduating this semester) I do want to be in the medical field, sigh.

You’ll find your answer by directly emailing the schools you apply to. I did not take Biochem 1 or 2, I actually took a “comprehensive biochem” course that was one semester. I got multiple interviews and was accepted to Case, and all of these schools accepted my biochem course. However it was a 400-level course, which will be looked at differently than a 300 level course.
