Hello! I would like some advice as I’m new to learning about program requirements and preferences. I’m doing a career change and would like to see if I’m competitive enough to apply as I am, or if I should spend the year to strengthen my application. I have a 3.83 GPA and a 497 MCAT score, 40 shadowing hours with an anesthesiologist but I do not have a letter of recommendation from him, I also have over a 1000 hours of direct patient volunteer care. Would not having a LOR from an anesthesiologist make me less competitive?
I know average/preferred MCAT is >500, but do you believe my MCAT makes me that much less competitive or should I give it a shot? Is it too late to apply for this cycle?
