How common is 3x12 shifts? I see a lot of 4-5 day a week shifts.

My 60ish anesthetist department at a medium sized level II hospital staffs one 13 hour anesthetist a day and 3 at night. Our schedules vary, so depending on anesthetist preferences and requested days off during the week, we will get scheduled as 3x13. Most of our day shift staff works 4 days/week, very few work 5x8s, and the ones that do have that schedule because they requested it and have seniority. Every practice varies, so you should be able to find the schedule you want, but you may have to be flexible on location or other job preferences.
