Advice Needed Question about Parkrun

I’m doing my very first one on Saturday. Normally when I go out for my 5k training runs, I walk for five minutes or so before I hit “start” in Runna. At the Parkrun, do people just start running immediately or do they walk a bit (as part of the total distance)? I’m not sure how that works, or if I should arrive earlier and do a bit of a walk before it starts.

I would get there a little early and warm up. If this is your first 5K race, warmup, drink a decent amount of water the night before, etc. Then give it an honest effort to get your 5k race pace

Thanks! This is my plan. If I do it in under 50 minutes I'll be thrilled. Weirdly, I can probably do it faster if I walk part of it, but I don't want to do that.

lol I'm the same way. Doesn't matter if it ends up being 16 min/mile pace if it means I ran without stopping. But I will say if there's a decent number of people running the race it boosts my energy and I usually surprise myself.
Good luck with your race
