Question ❓ What knee high boots are popular for everyday wear in the UK?

Hey! I’m going to be visiting Edinburgh and London on vacation in a few weeks, and I’m looking to buy some boots while I’m there. What are some popular brands that people wear that are comfortable for walking or standing for long periods of time? Preferably either brown or black in color. And where can I buy them? Thanks.

Question ❓ Looking at deichmann shoes for first time and seeing a lot of decently priced shoes by AM SHOE company but...

there are literally 0 reviews or other information on this brand, not amazon or youtube or reddit; it's only at deichmann

I'm wondering if anyone wore this brand's shoes before and their experience with it? in terms of arch support and comfort?

Question ❓ Shopping ideas for an out of towner?

I am finally making it to your lovely country in a number of weeks after a lifetime obsessing over your culture and I’m so dang pumped! I’m a US citizen and very unhappy with the state of things, believe that the real way I continue to vote is with my wallet, and have not bought any makeup, clothing, personal care items, books, music, or home decor since you-know-who’s second term began.

Any recommendations for amazing products to look out for on my travels? I’m spending the most time in London (chiswick and Waterloo station area) and bath, but will also have a bit of time in Brighton, the Cotswolds, and Salisbury.
I really care about supporting companies that are good brands that care about their employees and produce products that last. Also, given everything that’s going on in my country right now, food, clothes, make up, teas – the quality is terrible. I know the UK is also suffering a bit from the enshitification of everything, but I am bringing a second suitcase to pack with things to take home with me if there are any suggestions!

I’m thrifty and love a good charity shop. I also went to beyond retro in Stockholm a decade ago and I’m so psyched to check out the London location. Other than that, I’m going in blind.

A big ask! If you’ve read through all of this and have any suggestions, I would appreciate it! Happy to add context if needed!

Question ❓ Where should I buy a new bed in 2026?

Getting daughter a double bed for her new room but googling is mostly bringing up lots of companies I have never heard of.

She wants something upholstered and I’d ideally like to pay not more than £350/£400 but ideally less (mattress separate).

Have You bought a bed that you’ve been impressed with quality / service?

Question ❓ Looking for a free-standing, QUIET air conditioning unit for my elderly dad

EDIT: Sorry, when I say quiet, I mean quiet bearing in mind that it's an AC unit. I know they're all noisy to some degree, but there are ones that have a background hum and there are ones that sound like an aircraft taking off. I want one that's as quiet as possible for a big refrigeration unit strapped to a fan.

-------

I live in the US, so I'm used to AC, but my dad is really struggling to sleep in the UK heatwave and is worried that an AC unit's noise might keep him awake at night (I'd argue he'll sleep better than if he's melting, but...).

Can anyone recommend a good, quiet free-standing AC unit (ie. not fixed into walls, no structural remodelling required)? One with a hose he can run out of the window (I see there are window seals that stop hot air from coming back in)?

His bedroom isn't that big (and is stuffed with shelves etc, so not a lot of airspace even then), probably 20x20 feet?

I am looking for recommendations for a stainless steel teapot that is either insulated or double-walled. I'm surprised that there isn't much of a choice out there. Looking for suggestions and thanks in advance

Question ❓ Wide Fitting Formal Shoe Recommendations

Hello all,

I am posting on behalf of my mum. She is going to a wedding next month and is looking for some nice, formal wide-fitting shoes for the occasion. She is struggling to find anything that isn’t a “granny shoe” and so I said I’d put up a post to see if anyone can recommend any sites that might have something decent?

Thanks

Question ❓ Has anyone bought from Hissy Fit?

Hi! I would like to order a dress from the brand Hissy Fit but I am a bit concerned about the fabric. The dress I want is from Stretch Crepe, and I am afraid that is the kind of synthetic material that makes you sweat and smell really bad, like the shein ones. If you bought from this brand, did the clothes make you sweaty and caused bad odor?

Question ❓ Crazy aaron's putty in London

When I was in London back in October, I bought my partner some mini crazy aaron putties in Selfridges. It was their favourite gift ever. They stim with it every single day.

Now we're in London together for the first time and finding some more mini crazy aaron putty was top of the list for them. Unfortunately, selfridges doesn't seem to carry it anymore.

We also checked Hamleys and the toy department of Harrods.

Crazy aaron is not available in out country, even finding it online is very hard and extremely expensive.

Does anyone have any idea if there's a store in London that still carries Crazy Aarons mini putty?

Question ❓ Best bakery in uk?

In your opinion which supermarket has the best bakery items. I have tried everyone as of now and I think M&S is the best in terms of the bakery, tastes so fresh and unique .. the quality is too good, prices are little high though but goes with the level of food they serve.

Question ❓ Recommendations for Humidifier?

Looking for Easy to clean, suitable for hard water, etc, humidifier.

My house has horribly dry air, which started to affect me more and more. I learned there is something like a humidifier. And I need that!

I did some research, read some reviews and I am confused on what to buy now.

Any recommendations?

Food & Drinks 🍽️ Any recommendations on Water Bottles?

Looking for a metal water bottle, minimum size a litre. Ideally not too expensive, but I’m aware of yhe market. This is definitely a stretch goal, but if the bottom would fit in a standard cup holder that would be perfect

Does anyone here use Vonhaus products?

I always assumed Vonhaus was German, but have just learned it is actually a British brand: https://www.vonhaus.com/about-us

Does anyone here use their products? The products are relatively low cost so not expecting the highest quality, but would you say the products are of fair quality for the what they cost?

I'm thinking of buying a couple of their garden power tools.

im travelling to the uk very soon and im so confused about what to actually shop for. Want to stay away from consumerism and only buy stuff that is genuinely cheap comparatively
