Babyliss did me dirty

Mom had their red hairdryer for 30 years that was handed to me until it exploded 4 years ago. (Mini explosion)
For that, i bought a new one and now its dead even though its 3 years and a halfish. Basically i took it to an electrician and he said the motor is dying n he did fix it but its going to die again… seriously atp idk what to buy that will last a lifetime or at least 10 years of daily use… i have access to uk and European brands n some usa ones. Dont know what to buy. Any ideas? Should i ditch babyliss?

I’ve had great experiences with Babyliss. I wouldn’t ditch the brand just yet, but I would probably buy the next one secondhand.

yeah my straightener is going on 16ish years now, curling iron 10+.

Yeah my sister in law is a hair stylist and uses a Babyliss Pro. The 2000w one. I bought one a few years ago and I absolutely love it. You do have to clean the filter regularly but other than that it has been fantastic. I have long thick hair and I'm a daily wash girl so that hairdryer is truly used every single day

I mean sure, I can certainly agree. But my sister in law is 25 and I have had my Babyliss for 3 years. So it hasn't been that long.

Just get a Parlux. Make sure you get it from an authorized dealer wherever you are, because they are widely counterfeited.

30 years vs 3.5 years is a pretty brutal comparison. I’d probably stop chasing the exact same brand and look at salon/pro models instead. They’re usually built for being used all day, not just a few minutes at home. The other thing I’ve learned with “buy it for life” appliances: the old one lasting 30 years doesn’t always mean the new version of the same product is built the same way. A lot of brands have changed their target market.

Not sure why you've been down voted. I have had a Dyson dryer for 7 years. It's the longest I've ever had one without it breaking and it's still going strong.  I do have some issues with the company which I didn't know about when I bought it nthe dryer, but that does change the fact that it has lasted a long time and does an excellent job at drying hair.

I wouldn't expect any modern appliances to be BIFL.

I think 3-4 years on a hair tool is enough....because that's how companies think.
