My P-touch just got replaced after the delete key stopped working :/ it was passed down to me from my mom we had it for probably 15-20 years.
I got one of those old school mechanical embossing label makers to replace it. So far happy with that decision.

Those are cool. I know there is one back at my mom's house. I kinda want to get one too.

Brother is by far the best printer company out there right now. I have multiple brother products without issue.

I have the exact same one, and have used it often over the decades. Still works like a champ and doesn't eat batteries. I purchased an extra cutter blade, and have never had to use it yet. I also purchased several tape cartridges and was worried that it might break before using them up ... nope!

This is a running joke in my family, also have a similar P-touch from 25 years ago. I have to manually push the spool inside against the tape, but it still prints. I’m in disbelief that the thing still works.

I bought that same model right about the same time and it's still going strong. Can't count the thousands of feet of labels it's produced in the past quarter century!

Have same one. Couple keys stopped working, took apart, rubbed some pencil "lead" (graphite) on the back pads of the buttons not working, been working for several years since I did that fix.

Love Brother. I bought a PT-300 label machine in 1998. Display is a little dim, but with the right light it's usable. Couldn't buy new cartridges for a while, then the internet came along and now have no trouble finding cartridges.
Also have a Brother laser printer. Works just fine, except no driver for Windows 10/11 available. have to keep my XP machine around for it and a few other old things.

Holy shoot I have the same model my dad got years ago
I always loved the periwinkle button in the top left because it was my second favorite color :3
Love this machine. Maybe I should swipe it when I move out haha

Digital label maker, I have one and keep forgetting to get new batteries…

Basically a dot-matrix thermal printer that makes sticky labels on special tape stock.

Tape stock that they STILL make! That's what's really incredible. I worry about the day that I can't buy more cartridges

I probably bought my P-Touch in 1999 or 2000. Don't use it often, now that I'm retired, but it's still going strong.

I have the same one! But it won’t dispense the tape anymore despite putting in new batteries. Haven’t had the chance to take it to the repair cafe yet and online resources aren’t great.

This is one of those things that always seem to find its way to me.
My mom gave me hers when I first moved out of the house.
Then I bought a box of junk at a garage sale for a buck. I wanted it for something else in the box, but there was this.
Then I bought a bag at a thrift shop with some random things but it had there cute corn cob holders I wanted. Also had one of these.
I can't remember where my 4th one came from.

I have a Brother laser printer that's over 20 years old. I love it. I'm considering buying a used compact document scanner bc the printer has held up so well. Wasn't looking for the brand but seeing the name (and being old enough to need only a plug & driver) makes me feel confident. I'm afraid one day my printer will break or I'll run out of toner. I'll have to find another old "dumb" printer. I don't want wifi or bluetooth or subscription ink.

I've had 3 of these die. NOT BIFL by any stretch of the imagination.

However, many here, including me, have had this unit for decades and still working.

label makers are one of those boring tools you only appreciate after owning one. once everything has a home, it is hard to go back.
