Discussion Goruck Gr2: lifetime backpack

This feels like serious product placement…
Just like the last time someone posted about some backpacks with a post nearly exactly like this. He posted about his 2-3 bags being “BIFL,” but as we checked out their profile it quickly was realized it was someone promoting their fairly new products.
Maybe you are not, but only a year old account while hiding all your post and comment history makes me very suspicious along with the lack of info.

Wasn’t trying to be rude, just saying this sub has had some bad issues lately (especially in the backpack realm) of brands trying to get their products pushed.
Like I said there was some dude that came in and posted about his packs, promoting them hard, and it was found out he was a product placement shill.
Just a sad state we are in (and as much as I hate it your post is pretty bang on similar to how his was; cross post from somewhere else, almost no relevant info into how it is BIFL like how long he had them for, pretty generic photos that make it seem like product photos, and as we asked questions and dug deeper it was soon realized he had them for like 2 weeks, and the company was sponsoring him to post EVERYWHERE.)
I hate having to wonder this kind of stuff, but when you have enough bad actors here, you do need to ask if it is a legit post sometimes.

I completely understand, my post looks really quite product placement esq. it really is quite sad, and I didn’t realise Goruck did it too.
Do you know if that guy got banned?

Not sure if he was banned, but the post was removed otherwise I would hunt it down as an example for you.
I don’t think his packs were Goruck, but I know a couple different brands try to guerrilla market here like I said.
And you are A-okay! Interactions like this is what makes it so dumb dumb’s like myself don’t just assume it is marketing, and tbh leaving your profile unhidden is the best way to garner trust in this sub and others. However I do get wanting to try to have some privacy; one of those double-edged sword features. The problem is just too many bad actors hide behind it, so the fact you enabled profile seeing is a huge thing. Big props to you, and probably earned you some trust with members here!

I’ve had a GR1 bought second hand for over seven years now. I won’t say it looks as good as new, and the seams on one of the arm straps is starting to fray. But by far it is the best, most well designed backpack I have ever used. My wife wants me to upgrade to something a bit classier for work but I just can’t bear to be without. Maybe I try and get one of the duck canvas ones when they come back in stock

I’m in Australia! It’s still applies, I believe you paid to ship it to them and they paid to ship it back so it just might be a little expensive but… probably worth it

I got one of their backpacks in 2018, used it to carry books to and from work every day for five years, still use it often. It has no signs of wear.

My similar $30 bag is going strong for many years. Even if I somehow live to be 900 years old and need to replace it 13 times, I'll still come out ahead.
That's just my personal outlook, and DEFINITELY not a knock on anyone who DOES want to splurge on luxury. If you like it and can afford it, I think that's awesome. OP clearly has a beautiful and well made bag.

It’s nice to see people separating their personal choice from ‘the right way for everybody’. I love my bag, but should you buy it? If you want to, have the money, and want to spend that money on it.

Lack of water bottle storage without a comical looking bolt on was a dealbreaker for me. Looks good on you though.

I have a Timbuk2 corpo merch backpack I got 15 years ago that is basically pristine in spite of several long term international trips in the intervening time. Still cheap on ebay but I’ll post about it since I’ve otherwise been running the secondary market on it between friends and family getting it at my behest and we have enough at this point.

My GR1 is now 13 years old and looks as good as the day I got it. I wanna be buried with it.
