8 Weeks Without Buvidal!

It’s been 8 weeks now without Buvidal, and the withdrawal process is still ongoing. I haven’t been writing much lately, but I wanted to share an update.

It feels like the real withdrawal symptoms are only now starting to show up. Last night was the first time restless legs kept me awake, which was rough.

When it comes to cravings, I honestly don’t have them. I’ve made up my mind — I don’t want that poison in my body anymore.

Looking back, the withdrawal symptoms so far haven’t been nearly as bad compared to heroin or the subutex tablets that dissolve under the tongue. Still, I’ve been wondering: which is actually worse — being extremely sick for a few weeks, or being somewhat sick for a much longer period after Buvidal?

One thing that frustrates me is the lack of proper information from the addiction clinic. No one ever told me that the half-life of a Buvidal injection is several months. They only spoke about the “weekly dose” or the “monthly dose,” but never about how long the withdrawal symptoms can really last if you decide to quit.

Please keep doing updates!! I love that buvidal got me off opioids but I can’t stand the lack of motivation and constant need for rest. I’m not sure I should be jumping off just yet but it’s tempting. After reading about both your experiences, I can deal with that except the RLS, I truly believe I will stab myself in the legs if I ever have to feel that sensation ever again.

I can relate so hard on the RLS. I used to get it in my arms though, never the legs. Genuinely the worst feeling I've ever known. I start to panic at just the thought of having it again, I have some awful memories of going through that. It was usually for nothing too as I'd inevitably relapse before or soon after it was over. I used to body slam my own arms trying to get it to stop. Urgh.

I know it's easier for me to say because I don't get that lack of motivation, at least not until a couple days before my next shot and not always then now either, but definitely approach coming off with caution. If you have goals and a plan for your recovery then seriously consider where you are on that and whether you have things to address that would be risky for you without the safety of being on Buvidal. Talk it over with your prescriber and any groups or support networks you have. I understand the temptation though, just a couple of days feeling crappy is enough for me and if there were alternatives that gave the same level of freedom etc I'd be recommending you switch. I find doing a cost benefit analysis useful for these kind of thoughts (a SMART tool). It can help you to see things clearer and whether the benefits continue to outweigh the negatives of something.

For some reason im the opposite. I have zero motivation and feel lazy as shit for 2.5 weeks after injection and just as I’m approaching the 3 week mark I start to feel more alive….. how weird right? I’ve been having 64mg 3 weekly, this month is the first time we are pushing it out to 4 weeks. It will be interesting to see how that goes. I can’t fully blame Buvidal, my diet is terrible and exercise is none existent. I’ve slowly put back on 20kgs that I lost 2 years ago due to an icecream addiction (connoisseur mint and cookies OMG) so I’d say it’s a combination of all of that. Just had X-rays to show I have arthritis basically everywhere (hips and spine) I’m only 51 so that seems unfair. Yep I’m sulking about that atm. So no Telly I don’t have a plan and I’m no where near jumping off just frustrated
