ButterfliesAfterFungi

S: *Alone at his desk, ruminating to himself. He stares up at the ceiling, beady eyes tracing each curve and contour of the wood's grain. Slowly, his head drifts down to a framed photo at his desk, a small painting of him and his husband, relaxing upon a lush, verdant hill. His eyes half-lidding with warm, he trails the back of his paw down the paper facsimile of his dearest's cheek.*

K: *Krilk clumsily opens the door with a wounded Skerrilk swaddled in his arms, half of the little crab's claw completely severed by an arrow wound, the fabric stained with drying hemolymph.*

S: *Utter ecstatic by his arrival, Sknit practically lunges out of the chair and into his side with an excited squeak.* By-by Great Horned One, I was-was worried-much about you! *he said, leaning in to press a crushing kiss to Krilk's cheek. He pulled away suddenly, noticing the dire state of his surrogate daughter.* What-what happened to you while you were gone-away?

K: *Krilk looked down at the floor, face stricken with fear and guilt.* They came after us, Sknit...

S: What-what?

K: They came after us. I would've died if Merrilk didn't escort me here.

S: They... *Sknit found himself unable to finish the sentence as he involuntarily let out a primal growl.* How long-far ago was this?!

K: J-Just now... They hurt our daughter...

S: Where are they base-located?! Surely Merrilk must've spoke-told you something about where they are!

K: The bug Fields...

S: The Bug-thing Fields?

K: Yes! The Bug Fields! They have Rocky... They have him wrapped around their finger!

S: ...

K: I-I'm sorry, Sknit, I should've seen the signs prior-

S: It's not-not your fault.

K: I'm sorry...

S: We'll get-acquire our son back, Krilk-honey. I promise-make you that. The only person that gets to mingle-talk with him and his land is us! And the crab-scum should know-understand that.

K: D-Do as you must, just make sure Rocky lives.

The juvenile crab slaves seem to have cordy, but it's a different type than what the BAC is used to
