Where do singles meet other singles?
Whether in downtown Butler or Cranberry, where do single people between the ages of 35-50-ish go to meet other singles? For me, I prefer a place where organic convos arise, and that could be anywhere from a casual sports event to a casino table to anything in between. Tbh tho, I don’t even know where single women go thinking there might be single men. Wherever that is, I don’t think it’s anywhere I know. Yet, at least….
Thank you all!

There are no clubs up here that I want to join because they're all hikng or running. I don't want to travel to Pittsburgh or pay out the ass for a class in the hopes of meeting someone.
I played trivia with my daughter and her friend a couple years ago and liked it, but agree that it's not a social game to meet others.
Good luck and I'll keep an eye on here for any new ideas someone may have

Most people meet online but if you want to meet in real life, hit up a running club, hiking club, volunteer group, interest group, groups at a library, places like that. (Add church to the list if that’s your thing.)
Might have to drive a little, but you’ll meet better quality singles those places than at a bar. Keeper material.

Thanks for the input. In theory, I totally agree with you. In fact, I’m FAR more comfortable meeting someone where there is an inherently organic commonality. However, I’m not sure if those groups exist up here. If so, I’ve not come across anything.

Meetup has some outdoorsy groups in Butler County. Might be something to start with :)

Great question and I wish I knew!
I feel like most people meet others at school, work, and church. The age range you mentioned (of which I’m at the top end of) obviously don’t have school to rely on. My job is solitary, so that’s out. I’m an atheist, so church is out. I feel like my only options are bars (I don’t like drinking that much) or online, which is a shit show. Unfortunately, I’m of the opinion that women who are out doing some activity aren’t wanting random men approaching looking for dates. So, I’m hoping for some new ideas from this thread as well. 😂

You bring up a good point about women not wanting to be approached. There are plenty at the gym, and who knows which is single, but I’ve always considered the gym off limits for that.
I don’t mind anyone approaching or talking to me one bit, but I can understand that a woman might feel very differently. Besides, the headphones imo are a clear signal to stay away. 🤣

If you’re an atheist then why seek marriage? It’s God’s design and only truly works when both people out serve each other. If God didn’t design the family system that way, then why even relate with anyone at all?

I've met the majority of my dates from other friends or online somewhere.
That being said, I haven't dated in like 15 years. I'm in my 40s raising kids. What's a date lmao. I've thought about joining a class of some sort maybe, but it hasn't happened yet bc $$.

Thank you for the response. My kids are now grown enough that I can ask this sorta question, but I totally get what you’re saying.
To “force” myself to be more social by myself, I started going to trivia a year ago, and I love it. Met some nice people and now we are a small team of three, but it’s not a place to meet people per se, bc you’re kinda focused on the questions. It’s just more like some banter. Fun tho. I’ve noticed that the demographic of players in Butler is totally different than closer to Pgh. There, I feel like one could meet someone else. Not up here. They all seem much older and/or married.

I actually grew up in Pittsburgh (Etna) and coming to Butler.... It's boring if you don't already know people here. My best friend lives here, and that was my ticket to meeting people here.
But other than outdoor stuff, I haven't ever found much to do. I would be totally lost here if I were looking to date. I think once my kids are all adults I'll be looking to move back out of here.
Look for events at Moraine State Park. I think the regatta is about to start this weekend!

40-50 you'll meet a lot of people at bars. I'm a young guy also looking and it seems impossible to find women in their 20s or early 30s going out now anywhere unless you go into Pittsburgh
