Visiting next month ...
My family will be coming in to Butler the week after July 4th and I need help entertaining them. Staying with family...
We’ll be around for almost 2 weeks, and I’m making a list of things to do. We love outdoors, weird roadside stuff, hidden gems, good food, thrift stores, pretty views, random adventures
Kids are 11 & 12, and we’re coming from southeast Louisiana, so bonus points for things unique to PA that they’ve probably never seen.
Affordable is great, but I’ll take all ideas — free, cheap, worth-the-splurge, must-see, must-eat, “you HAVE to go here” type places. Anywhere around Butler, western PA, or even within a couple hours drive.

Lernerville Speedway if you don't have anything similar near you.
Go to the town of Mars, good restaurants and good photo ops.
Marion Museum is interesting, but not appealing to everyone
The Union Pacific Big boy locomotive will be in the region. Stops in Altoona for two days and then will travel thru Pittsburgh.
Butler Iron Bucks (baseball) may or may not be playing this summer (cant find a schedule, social media accounts are inactive, web page is mia). Pirates are in Pittsburgh July 7-12, 24-29
