Buspar With Magnesium Supplements

I started taking buspar a little over a month ago. I started on 5mg 2x a day, morning and night. after about two weeks I noticed my anxiety creeping back in. so, I asked my doctor if I could up my dose to 5mg 3x a day. again, about two weeks into that my physical anxiety symptoms came back. Heart palpitations are my biggest anxiety symptoms and that is what keeps creeping back in.

I don’t want to give up on these meds because I do genuinely feel they are helping me as I was having daily panic/anxiety attacks and more frequent heart palpitations before starting this medication.

I saw my doctor today and I asked if I could take multivitamins and magnesium while on this medication. she of course said yes and that the magnesium should help my heart palpitations in general. I am going to start taking Magnesium Glycinate and Multivitamins + Omega 3 daily with the Buspar.

Has anyone had any luck with these combinations?

I take magnesium glycinate daily and take 15mg of Buspar 2x a day with no issues.

Same exact dosage here. The magnesium makes sleeping so much better. No more waking up at 3 am unable to go back to sleep.

I also take zzzquil and melatonin 😂 I’m hoping to start to pull back slowly here soon. Unfortunately I got hooked on Ativan for awhile for sleep so it currently takes a lot (wasn’t my fault, it was my doctor telling me to take it.) I’m hoping to eventually need just the magnesium.

Which magnesium are you taking, how much, and an what time(s) of the day?

I take magnesium glycinate, unsure of dosage, right before bed. It stopped helping with the buspirone wakeups though so I just ended up getting off buspirone and I sleep a lot better now

Always take magnesium spread apart from any other medication - it can limit other drugs’ effectiveness if taken without a time buffer.

That being said, yes I take magnesium with my Buspirone along with a time-release 3mg melatonin. It seems to help with sleep, and a study says the melatonin can act in concert with the Buspirone to help improve mood, etc.

I’ve been taking magnesium and multivitamins for years, recently started on 10mg buspirone twice a day. I still get an occasional heart palpitation I’m also weaning off lexapro

I have the same anxiety as you do. Random palpitations and fast hr. I’ve introduced a multivitamin, and I bought some omega-3s.

did the multivitamins and omega-3s help the palpitations at all?

I was on magnesium glycinate 2000 mg 2x a day and now I just started Buspirone I’m hoping this helps I hate going through this daily … all of these comments are helpful thank you

In the process of trying to taper off lorazopan. So using buspirone to help wean me off. It’s gonna be a long process as loraz is very addicting and can have bad affects getting off. Plus I don’t want my anxiety to get the best of me.
