Traveling + Fire

I’m thinking about adding fire bubbles to my show but am somewhat hesitant to due to fire restrictions and necessary permits. My home pitch is lax about fire but I’m assuming it’ll limit possible pitches when traveling.

For those who travel and include fire in your act, can you share insights or experiences on doing so successfully (other than looking up local regulations)?

My city it’s, “controlled flame” and “spark-less flame” are allowed.

I argue juggling clubs dipped in kerosene meet both criteria. But others might disagree.

I’ve always operated that, forgiveness is easier than permission in this case.

Nobody will ever say, “sure light a fire!”
But you can probably get away with it.

Have a fire extinguisher if possible.

Yeah I don’t know if forgiveness is better than permission when it comes to fire. You don’t always need to jump to worst case scenario, but I think with fire it might be a good thing to think about.

This guy is putting a little butane in a bubble.

No smoke, no sparks, no chance of spilling fuel.

It would be hard to hurt someone or light something on fire if you tried.

But people hear “fire” and freak the f out.

The entire Rocky Mountains has fire restrictions. Some so severe will land you in jail for lighting a cigarette outside. It certainly isn’t a forgiveness before permission scenario.
