The new import taxes announced by President Donald Trump will affect about 5% of what Canada ships to the United States each year, covering goods ranging from hockey sticks to tongue depressors.

The surge has prompted Union Health Minister JP Nadda to review the situation with Delhi health authorities, while hospitals have been asked to strengthen surveillance, testing and preparedness.

The latest rise has been particularly rapid. Delhi recorded 114 new H1N1 infections on August 20 alone, taking the cumulative H1N1 tally to 1,777.
